Suggestion / Request for an L3 feature to be added to L4

I would like to request in L4 the L3 method of selecting parallel Bible versions from a pull-down and especially, the L3 method of displaying the versions side by side in table form with each verse separated and aligned horizontally with its equivalents. (Please excuse my ignorance if there's already a way to do this in L4.)

I'm not familiar with L3, but it sounds like you want Text Comparison, which you can find under Tools, or simply by hitting F7.

There's one exception: It's available with SESB 3 (at least the original edition provided by the German Bible Society) as well, without having an "Original Languages" or higher Base Package.

Thanks for the tip about F7. The only Text Comparison pane I had seen before came up automatically on the right of the screen, and gave the passage vertically, all one version’s verses followed by the next version’s, etc., so that to compare you had to scroll down and up. Your F7 technique overcame that; however, I encountered two things that I couldn’t figure out how to work with. One was that it only displayed four versions, starting with whichever version I had open and adding three others from the tabs in the Bible pane. I couldn’t figure out how to control which three additional versions, nor whether it was possible to view more than four. The other odd thing (odd to me) was that as soon as I clicked in the comparison pane (e.g. to select text or to drag the pane), it disappeared.

As to the availability in the ”Original Languages” or SESB3 (?) packages, what I have is the L4 Bible Study Package with a bunch of other books bought previously over the years.

I‘ve made screenshots from L3, except I can’t figure out how to post them. #1 shows the way to get to Parallel Bibles; #2 shows the pull-down that presents combinations of versions you’ve used before and allows you to choose new combinations; #3 shows how you choose versions; and #4 shows the display of six versions in a window that you can drag, resize, and select text from. If you're interested, tell me how to post them & I'll be glad to do so.

John, you can overcome this "vertical scrolling" one of two ways:

1.) you can "float" the text compare window.

2.) You can drag the window and dock it to where it shows the versions better.

also....unlike F7, you can add as many versions as you like...just by typing in the abbreviation and a comma between them.

this is the "pull-down" equiv in L4

It remembers two things:

1.) Recently used "bible sets"

2.) collections.

So you can either make a collection of the bibles you like as you see that I've done, or just keep "reusing" the same choice via the pull down....(i.e. latest chosen sets)

To access this menu...just stick your cursor in the box and it will fly out a menu.

For comparing versions in Logos 4, am finding collections are quicker to choose for many versions. For Example, my English Bibles collection (type:bible language:English) has 32 resources, took awhile to compare 25 versions for an Old Testament chapter; was quicker to compare 29 versions for 5 New Testament verses. Tip: choose verse(s) first, then item(s) to compare.

To add an item: type a comma and space after last item to display drop-down list that can be added for Text Comparison, then click desired item (collection, series, version)
To change an item: click on an existing item, then delete a character to cause drop-down list to appear with clickable choices

Logos 4 Text Comparison can display results using horizontal or vertical layouts. For Screen Capture, opened Logos 4 Text Comparison in a floating window, then choose versions, including a collection (Top Bibles), followed by individually choosing same 7 versions in Libronix 3.0g (using Choose Versions...), and arranged Logos 4 floating window over Libronix 3.0g:

Thankful Logos 4 Text Comparison has series for comparison (e.g. Biblical Dead Sea Scrolls), easy to change verse(s) for comparison with automatic change of resources that have verse(s) for comparison. The Qumran Biblical Dead Sea Scrolls Database has 259 Bible fragments.

You can select text just the way you did in L3....and paste it right into Word or whatever....

Missed that. [:$] Fortunately it didn't seem to matter in this case. Or wait, haven't I read somewhere that the lower packages have a simpler version that can't display the differences? Can you do that, John? Have Logos automatically display the differences between the version to the left and the other ones? (Two buttons with A's on them (or as below).)

Besides what's already been said, you might also want to click on the icon at the top left. In the dropdown there you can choose between Horizontal, Vertical or Automatic Layout (where Automatic adapts to the panel size), as well as do a few other things.

As to the screen shot thing, I'll look at the wiki to learn how to do it, but posting the L3 stuff to indicate what I was looking for is now OBE--you all are very considerate.
