Downloading + Indexing ?

I have a MacPro and I have installed the Logos 4 for mac, however it does not say anywhere if is download books or indexing. I still don't have 300+ books. Is it normal? Should it say that is downloading or indexing while logos is up running?

Welcome to the forum I hope you get a lot of use from your MacPro and Logos.

We need a bit more information to help you out.

Which package for logos do you have?

Do you have any resources installed?

Have you managed to log into your account when you first ran Logos.

In preferences...

do you have 'Automatically download updates' restricted in time?

do you have 'Use internet' set to yes?

What happens when you type 'Update now' in the command bar of Logos.

When downloading or indexing a small logos icon should appear in the top right bar of your mac.

I hope some of the things above might help you get started.

As an aside - when you start a thread in the forum it is really helpful if you could give it a meaningful title - many who might have been able to help will skip this thread thinking you just wanted to say hi.

Hi, and welcome to the forums. If it's downloading or indexing you should have a Logos icon on the right side of the menu bar. If you click on it, it will tell you [approximately] how far it's come. It depends on what base package you've bought, how fast connection you've got, and how good your computer is, but downloading and indexing generally takes several hours, and requires at least one restart.

If you don't see the icon, you can click on the Library (book) icon and check if the books are there. Then, if they are, you can write something simple, like love or John 1:1, in the "Go" box on the Home Page, click Go, and see what happens. If you have neither the icon nor the books, try restarting Logos.

Let us know how it goes. Sundays are not the best day to get fast help, since most of the more knowledgeable people are pastors, and installation troubles is definitely not my specialty, but in all likelihood everything is going normally and you just have to wait.

Number of books depends on base package and other purchases; wondering what was purchased ?

Wiki has Getting Started with Logos page with Installation + Indexing section that includes links to video tutorials, which show blue Logos icon in menu bar when downloading and indexing:

Mouse was hovering over blue Logos icon for status message.

I will answer all of your questions in order:

Logos Bible Software 4.2a SR-4 (4.21.5.0955)

I do have 333 books, however I have bought and upgraded the new Logos 4 scholar library and I should have 620 +- books which are not in my library.

Yes, automatically download updates is from 1am to midnight and use of internet is on yes

When I type 'Update now' at the right bottom appears a small window saying that there are updating and they are downloading automatically, but I cannot see it anywhere.

I have seen the icon on the top…and it tells me the percentage!!

So when it will index will appear the same icon?

Wiki has Using the Forums page. Currently have few hours to edit title for this post, perhaps change "Hi" to "Downloading + Indexing ?" or "Hi - Downloading + Indexing ?"

Wiki has Mac Troubleshooting page with How to Report Bugs in Logos 4 Mac section that includes Indexer.log file. Option: can open Indexer.log file for more information (by default, Indexer.log file scrolls automatically as new lines are written).

It seems that it is working as it should it will take a long time to download and index the library. It is best not to interrupt it by shutting down mid-way through - just let it run to completion.

Once the downloading is finished it will automatically go to indexing.
