I have a Bible and a Commentary up on my IPad Logos 4. How can I link them together [so that they move simultaneously]?

  • Tap to open Logos, Tap More, Tap Settings, Link Panels needs to be ON for split screen scrolling.

When scrolling one resource to a verse that does not appear on the other screen, then the other screen scrolls to display same verse.

I believe this reply was written just before 1.7.0 came out, but I'm trying to link panels and having no luck.

When I have the list of views up along the bottom ("Home", ... "Library", "Reading", ..., "More...") and I click "More...", no "Settings" option appears. In fact, I can't find any place to change "Settings" at all. When I click "More...", the options that appear are: Preferred Bible, Accounts, and About. Under none of those are any more settings available.

    Any help?

    Thanks,

    Donnie

They moved it with 1.7.0.  On the reading pane, if you tap on it, you will see several options up top.  Select the option that says "Aa".  Under this option, you will see "Link Panels".  Slide it to ON, and you are set.

Open the app and create the two panes with the resources you want. Tap on the upper portion of each panel and select the "AA" icon. Choose link panels.

    This did the trick. Thanks.

They do need to rethink their icons in this app. The "Aa" icon typically implies changing text size (in browsers, on the Kindle, etc.). And the second icon on the left looks like the icon word processors use to signify right-justifying text (in the Logos app it lets you pick a verse).

I agree.  Perhaps instead of an "Aa", it should be a gear or something that represent options.

I have the latest version of the app for the iPad ( as of June, 2012), and I tried all of these avenues to my great frustration, none worked!

After poking around for a while, I finally stumbled across the solution: you use the little ball thingy that opens up or moves the additional pane. Hold your finger on the ball until the little "link panels" menu pops up. Make your choice.

BTW - you have to be in the reading view, with the window split, and without the "ribbon" on the bottom of the screen. In other words, you have to be in reading view, full screen, and have to be able to see the little "splitter ball" at the bottom of the screen - in order to hold your finger on it.

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks Bob,

One of the problems we have in the forum is the inability to 'retire' obsolete posts. You will notice that the one before yours is quite old?

The change you note has been in operation for quite some time and has been mentioned quite often in the forum.

It is a pity that we cannot remove these old posts which waste so much time when the search facility regurgitates them.

    Hi Mike,

Many customers would be incensed if Logos deleted their old forum posts - and many would be incensed at the mere suggestion of doing so.  Think about this for a moment - who is supposed to decide which posts are "obsolete"?  There would be years of negative repercussions if Logos decided to delete the posts they determined to be obsolete, because what is obsolete to one customer might be relevant to another.

It's up to the customer to notice the date of the previous post in a thread since that is a common practice for any forum thread anywhere on the internet, and Logos can't control or dictate a customer's attention level (or lack thereof).  For example, Google groups can't control whether a customer is reading a usenet post from 1997 who might therefore come to the wrong conclusion.  There's a basic common sense element that comes into play and Google can't control that - if you see what I mean - and Logos is no different.

The Logos forum search allows sorting by date and I hope that is sufficient, but if it isn't I welcome recommendations.  In any case, past posts, threads and forums will not be deleted.
