Puzzle: how to find cognate objects

Okay - I am entertaining myself trying to develop the rules for going from one type of sentence diagram to another. This diversion led me to an interesting grammatical construction:

cognate object

A direct object whose semantic content is more or less identical to
that of the verb which governs it. The direct objects in the following
examples are cognate objects: I dreamed a dream last night; She sang a song; I’m thinking terrible thoughts.

Can you think of any way to identify this construct in Greek? It would seem as if some variation on the verb-direct object relationship + the same semantic domain ought to be able to come close. But I've not found a way to do it.

This could be done if my perennial request for stem/cognate searches were adopted by Logos.

The search would then be a morph search specifying stem:[stem] as V??? NEAR stem:[stem] N??? (or something like that - I didn't count my question marks). To get more specific one could put the direct object in the accusative (in Greek), but that wouldn't catch a prepositional phrase as a direct object. There are probably a few other situations where the above search would miss the intended result as well (when it's anything but the most simple of grammatical constructions.)

MJ, do you have any example in the NT for your search? I believe it can be done with syntax search, but the best way to do it is to mimic one occurrence.

Here are some screen shots from a search I did. This search is explained in the Syntax Search Demonstration DVD for Libronix 3.

The query is long, but basically, it is just the first block of search which is copied and inverted the orders of the object and predicator, as well as the depth of the structure of the clause.

Thanks for you help on this. It gets me headed in a correct direction. However, it doesn't quite do what I want because it picks up doubled verb forms rather than a verb/noun pair.
