Academic stand-outs in Bible dictionaries/encyclopedias?
After some recent threads discussing the best Hebrew and Greek Lexicons, I was wanting to get people's opinion on what would be considered the academic stand out for the Bible Dictionary/Encyclopedia category.
I have always used ISBE (which, by the way, is on sale in L4 for $99) in print form, and relied on Ungers Bible Dictionary for a quick one volume reference. I see through the free tutorials that the Anchor Yale Bible Dictionary must be well thought of.
Any ideas...or personal favourites?

Yes, Anchor Yale Bible Dictionary is considered the academic heavyweight. It tends to avoid theological discussions and just goes for objective stuff, but that would place it on the more liberal/mainline end of the spectrum from some people's perspective. ISBE is more conservative and is the only thing that comes close to AYBD in terms of volume of content. The one-volume Bible dictionaries are OK for quick reference but they don't have the in-depth articles.
There's also Zondervan Encyclopedia of the Bible, which is also on the more conservative/evangelical end of the spectrum and has pretty pictures. It too is multi-volume (5).
There's a review page of Anchor Yale Bible Dictionary on the wiki here, but nobody has done up the ISBE or Zondervan encyclopedias yet. It's probably time for someone to add them. I will if I remember when I get back from the movie I'm going to this evening.
