Advice To All Newbies
General thoughts for those of you new to V4:
Patience
You will need it in the beginning. There is a lot to download if you don't wait for the DVD. There will be several downloads after the big one. The indexing will take a long time. If you are playing around with the software during indexing, things will be slow. Keep being patient. When all is installed and indexed, you will be amazed. Your patience will be rewarded!
Learning Curve
It really is not that bad, though it might seem so at first. Remember that V3 will not be touched. What I did at first was to keep studying and preparing on V3, and play on V4. Over a fairly short period of time, I was in V4 all the time. Don't get discouraged. Believe me, this product is light-years beyond V3.
Things You Miss
In some cases, V4 simply does them differently. Collections are one example. They are not there in the way you knew them in V3. However, there is a different approach to them and once you learn it, you will like it better. Some features are not in the new version but are coming. Be patient. Logos will get them in there, as promised.
One Last Thought
Don't be afraid of the cloud!
My "ah-ha!" moment came one day early in the testing when I was running late and had to leave the church office in a hurry. I had made some changes to my layouts and some other things. I ran out the door without saving anything. When I got home later that day, I fired up Logos, and it was if I had never left the other computer. There were my layouts, my work, everything - not just saved on the original computer but saved and showing up on another computer 10 miles away. I loved it.

I would only add the following:
Ask ask ask before you get frustrated.
You can see the short list of things that aren't included in V4 yet (on the website) and the other things are replaced by equivelent features; in many cases you will have to "rethink" how you use the tools in small ways....just like you learned to use V3 at first...its' a combination of you and the software....

I didn't see the brilliance of the Logos 4 system, at first. Instead of embracing change, I had a tendency to resist it. My advice, if you do struggle with the "new" or focus on a part or two, is to suspend judgment until you have the "aha" moment and comprehend or have a vision of the entire system. The system is beautiful and really is easier for the user.

And before you freak out and go "Ahhhhh" and run back to 3, just realize that you were likely using 3 for years. It will take a little to get used to the new look and interface, but it grows on you. I was a hater at first and still would like to see some things but we have been assured most of them if not all of them will be there.
My pet peave has been the Reverse Interlinears and the lack of diagramming tool.
Sync is a nice thing if you have many computers.

Ditto to what Robert said. Part of my commitment as a Beta tester is to help those of you just coming on. Ask away - and there will be someone who knows the answer. I have been amazed at the knowledge among some of these folks.
