Will the Babylonian and Jerusalem Talmud Collection ever be released? It keeps getting pushed back. I'd much rather have realistic expectations than false ones.
delayed ... again
[:(]
And I who got the "Your Pre-Pub will be Processed Soon" e-mail less than 4 hours ago...
In another thread I wrote something that could be interpreted as a wish that the Talmud Collection would be delayed, but I want to stress that I had absolutely nothing to do with this delay! [:(]
An unforseen delay for which I'm grateful! (this time. ;-) )
I canceled the order this morning because it just wasn't going to work, but pushing it back means I was able to re-order it this afternoon . So color me grateful this time.
Me grateful too, Kemosabe. I've been loading up lately.
I had gotten the email too. Nearly the entire amount for this one is a gift so I am simply getting to praise God longer in grateful expectation. Now I just need to praise God in advance to continually be gracious with my other Logos payments. What a joy we have watching the one who does exceedingly above all we could even ask or think!!!
For the size and complexity of the resourse I am rather surprised at the low cost, especially as this is defiantely a resourse that is better on the computer than in print.
If only it was Ipad accessable.
Delay is also good for me!!! Meanwhile, I have plenty of resources to keep me busy while I wait...

Agreed ... I'm really happy with the price and have been waiting months for it to be released. I suppose I can wait a few days longer. I just hope the don't delay it again since they've done so a few times already.
The bigger problem is that now that it has been pushed back to May, I am stuck with the dilemma of do I buy the JBL pre-pub to be released on Thursday? Originally I was signed up for it, but then cancelled when Interpretation moved to final stages. Now I could maybe scrounge the extra money for the JBL but I have to wonder - is that in my best financial interest given that I can access all the JBL articles on Ebscohost for free anyway? decisions decisions...
I also have ordered both the Journal of Biblical Literature and the Talmud, so I am glad that this one has been pushed back into May, especially since I just purchased the Lives of the Saints and the Anchor Yale Bible Dictionary.
I'm expecting to get a nice thank you letter from Discover Card any day now.
I am stuck with the dilemma of do I buy the JBL pre-pub to be released on Thursday?
I guess I too really have to make that decision rather fast now... Advice appreciated.
At this moment, I've decided to pass on this pre-pub for the very reason that I can get them free elsewhere. It'd be nice to get it all in one search ... but Ebscohost is so powerful I doubt I'll ever get rid of using that in combination with Logos anyway. Still wishing Logos could incorporate Ebscohost or ATLA searches in the program.
and again. Yesterday it was the 10th, now it's the 19th. Fortunately, the exchange rate seems to continue down. I'm paying about 15% less now than I did half a year ago! [:D]

So, given that I can get JBL for free on Ebscohost, I've decided this is the better pre-pub journal for me:
http://www.logos.com/product/4349/journal-of-northwest-semitic-languages-1995-2007-26-issues
It's still on Ebscohost, but only the citation is available - not the full text documents. Also, it's a little bit cheaper which is nice. So, that's where my money is going to be going. Of course, we need some more people to sign up to get it into production!

Hendrik,
We know that it's all your fault. Logos listens intently to you. [;)]
Will the Babylonian and Jerusalem Talmud Collection ever be released? It keeps getting pushed back.
I guess we now know the/one reason why it was pushed back:
Hopefully this means it will actually turn up tomorrow. I think it was Shakespeare that was delayed for 4 months, but when an update like this turned up it finally shipped a day or two later.

Knock on wood, it hasn't been delayed any further than it was last week. The 19th has been the date for a while. I agree that the 4.2b update is in preparation for the release of the Talmud. Frankly, it wouldn't bother me too much if it were delayed a bit since I just received the Continuum Near Eastern History Collection and could use a little separation from further expense. I rather imagine, however, that having said this we will be sure to receive it tomorrow as scheduled. I'm getting killed this month.

Wrong again ! The release of the Talmud has been pushed back to next Tuesday (24th).
More time to save more $$.

That's good news for me - my credit card cutoff date is the 23rd. [:)]
Maybe this is good, I could have become fused with my computer for the weekend looking at the Talmud...[8-|]
2 more days until the latest release date arrives ... i'm hopeful that this will be the time
I am grateful for the delay. It gave me a chance to take a hard look at my finances in light of some recent developments. Thanks to the delay I had time to decide to cancel my order. Sad but true...
Me too! I'm getting pretty discusted at the long wait for the Talmud. I wish they would set a time and sick with it; a realistic time instead of just leading us on...
You scared me into thinking it had been delayed again! Of course there's still time for that to happen, but I think today will be the day.

I also think that "tonight's the night !" [8][8] [8] The files are on the ftp site.
I never understand why people get so frustrated when an item is pushed back? Now, I understand that we have all been waiting for the Talmud for sometime, but the repeated delays are not the end of the world. I am sure we have enough in our Logos and print libraries to keep us occupied for many months, if not years. I for one am grateful that at least Logos informs us of the delays, giving us ample to time to decide to stick with a product, or like the commenter above, pull out before we are charged.
I am excited to possibly have this resource in my library today, but if not I have enough to worry about, and another delay of the Talmud is not one of them.
Just my two cents. Not directed at anyone in particular...well, maybe just at me as a reminder to be patient.[B]

Yes, you are expecting your wife to come home from a trip, but she is delayed. You wait for another day, but that too is delayed. Are you not disappointed. How long can you be kept in suspense ? Sometimes it seems we are "Waiting for Godot."

The only difference is, I would not compare my wife to a collection of books. Believe me, she is not happy with the amount I have now!
For me, it's not that I can't wait any longer for this product. I get impatient when my expectations keep getting misplaced. Had they said back in January that the release date would have been May 24th, I'd have said "that's a ways away, but for a product like that I'll gladly wait!". But when they keep setting dates and then pushing them back at the last minute it gets frustrating. For one, I like to know when money is going to come out of my checking account because it would make budgeting a whole lot easier. And for two, I just prefer it when people or organizations give realistic expectations rather than consistently letting us down. I can deal with one or two mistakes in estimates - that is understandable. But the amount of pushback this product has received is quite amazing. I'm sure there's perfectly good reasons for the delays, but since Logos keeps such a tight hold on that information we're left with only our imaginations and frustrations.

I can tell you right now what your problem is. You don't yet have enough books. The way to have a happy wife is to order more books. [6]
"We want Talmudim now!"
(I suspect if we don't get the Talmuds today, Logos will tell us that we "spiritually" received them today, but they will arrive physically on October 21, 2011.)

I can of like living in the same house as her. So, if I get more books I may be hitting you up for a place to sleep.[:P]
I never understand why people get so frustrated when an item is pushed back?
Has it occurred to you that some people actually need certain books?
Has it occurred to you that some people don't live in the States, and that a delay of a couple of months might mean a 10% or 20% higher exchange rate?
Has it occurred to you that some people have accounts which are not supposed to have lots of money in them, and that every time Logos delays more expensive items at the last minute, these people have to transfer money into these accounts, only to find out that, once again, they shouldn't have?
Has it occurred to you that some people are used to companies following a minimum level of business ethics that's far above Logos'?

I have a bush you could sleep under -- kind of like Jonah. [:)]
I'm afraid I must take issue with you here. I've never seen a company more ethical in its dealings than Logos.
So long as it is 9/11. That would not be a good association.
And I have hardly ever seen a company less ethical in its dealings than Logos. I guess you have very different standards in the US.

It's after 5:00pm Bellingham time and nothing yet -- not even a notice that it will be delayed further. Unless they're working late I don't think we'll get it.
Has it occurred to you
It has occurred to me Logos could just abandon ship date projections completely and announce every Monday what new products are available for download. Then we could have a 7 day window to pay before the price jumps.
I am usually happy to see a slight delay in ship dates. It is the total cancellations I find disheartening. There was the Samaritan Pentateuch, Crum's Coptic Dictionary, Oxford Latin Dictionary, and let us hope Anchor Yale Bible Reference Library does not meet the same fate. [:'(]
And I have hardly ever seen a company less ethical in its dealings than Logos.
You don't get out much, do you?
I guess you have very different standards in the US.
Happily, Yes.
I'll take Logos any day.
The last Pre-Pub I received shipped after Logos closed for the evening. I think a few folk are working after hours in the "shipping" department.
It nows says "Ships ~Q2-3111." Does mean we should expect a shipping sometime in the second quarter of 3111? If so, I will have to transfer my account over to my great-great-great-great-grandson.
We are still working out some issues with the Babylonian and Jerusalem Talmud Collection. We have moved the estimated ship date to next Tuesday while we sort these issues out.
We apologize for delaying the ship date. We're working hard to get you these resources as soon as possible.

I'm in shock. Have you looked at the orders page? It just changed to show that the Talmud collection is to ship in Q2-3111 ! Something is definitely wrong. [:^)][:(][:S][:^)][*-)]

Someone caught the error. It's now 6/1/11.
Never mind, I can still expect this in my life time. New date of 6-1-11 is posted.
This is fun. [B]
Well, I wonder if The Edwin Hatch Collection will ship today, even though the Talmuds won't?
