Search Formulas

Where can I find a description of all the possible search forumulas or characters?  I bought the Camp Logos Live DVD and he talked about AND, OR, ANDNOT (which doesn't seem to work very well), using paranthesis, etc.  But I can't find a comprehensive listing of these anywhere.

A simple chart will suffice.  I have done enough work in Excel, GIS, etc. to create formulas, but a lot of what works there doesn't work in Logos.
