i found that when i drag a shortcut to the favorite tool that it remembers to use the current scripture reference that i have open in my Bible. This can be a useful method for more quickly opening a tool to where i am studying (e.g. less mouse clicks), plus it reduces the number of shortcuts on my shortcut bar.

Example

Create a Shortcut for Morph River as shown below

1.  In the command box type: show morph river
  a.  Then in the drop down list grab the command and drag it to the Shortcut bar and drop it to create a shortcut for this command.

Now lets create a favorite based on our new shortcut

2.  Open your Favorites tool. Then grab your shortcut and drag and drop it in your Favorites. Now you have a new favorite to your command.

Now watch how your new favorite reacts to where you are reading in your Bible

3.  In your Bible set your reference to Rom 12:1-2
  a.  Now in your favorites click on your new favorite.
  b.  L4 will open the Morph River to your current Bible passage.

  c.  Now close the Morph River. Then in your Bible change the reference to John 1:1-5
  d.  Now click on your new favorite again.
  e.  Notice that when Morph River opens, it opens again to your current Bible passage.

To see the difference between creating a favorite from the Morph River directly

4.  Grab the tab for the Morph River (Logos hid the river while i captured the image) and drag it to your favorites. This creates another favorite to your Morph River.

  a.  Now change the reference in your Bible to Rom 12:1-2 again.
  b.  Then click on the favorite that you just created in step 4.
  c.  Notice that the Morph River did not open to your current Bible passage. This is because you created your favorite directly from a certain scripture in the Morph tool. Which is very important for Logos 4 to do, otherwise your favorite would not remember where you wanted your favorite to remember your specific passage.

So if you want a favorite to a tool which is flexible in regards to your current Bible position, then create a shortcut and create your favorite from the shortcut. After you create the new favorite you can delete the Shortcut in the shortcut bar.

This works on several of the Tools

Excellent, Steve. Thanks. I hope you'll put this on the wiki, too, if you haven't already.

So to summarize, there are 2 methods in which Favorites acts depending on the method that the favorite was added.

    ========================================================

    Method #1
When you add a favorite using the normal method as shown below, Logos 4 will remember the Bible reference at which the tool was located when it was added to your favorite. Then when you click on the favorite it will always open to your original Bible reference when you click on the favorite.

    image

    1.  Open your tool and position it to your desired Bible reference.
      a.  To add it to your favorites, click on the Add button.

      b.  Or from the Tool drop down menu click on the tool that you want to add and drag it to your favorites window and drop it. (it will always open to the location where that tool was opened to last at the time you drag it)

    image

      c.  Click in your tool to make it the active window, then on your keyboard press Ctrl D (or Mac users Cmd D). Logos 4 will add your tool to favorites remembering your tool's current location.
      d.  Or grab the tab and drag it to your favorites. Again your favorite will remember the tool's current location.

    Method #2
This method as describe in the first post of this thread will add your tool to the favorites. But when ever you click on the favorite for the tool it will open to the location of your current Bible.

    2.  Create a shortcut for your tool. Then drag it to your favorites. Then where ever you have a Bible actively set, when you click on the favorite tool it will open it to where your Bible location is showing.
