how to set up different commentaries

Please help me with this one. Let's suppose I have up (in the middle pane) one of several Bibles. Underneath is the Interlinear. Beneath that again, is a commentary. What I would like to do, is open an additional commentary in a separate tab. Clicking on the Parallel passages, another commentary will open up, but will replace the one I just had opened. I can click in a New Tab, but that really doesn't give me all the commentaries I want for that particular passage.

Is there a way to open up *any* (and more than one, two or three) commentaries and have them open automatically into a separate tab, without replacing the present one. Before answering this, stand up - take a deep breath and then sit again and give me the instruction(s) I'm begging for.  :-)

I'm going to gallop out for supper but will look forward to your help when I get back. As usual, your assistance is always appreciated.

Thanks a whole bunch!!!

Bootjack ... the obvious answer if I understand your question, is to just click on the '+' symbol that sits to the right of the tab(s). L4 will find the parallel resources and show them to you for you to select into a new tab.

However this generally isn't very efficient since a gazillion commentaries show up, all with their pictures. It's much easier to follow Steve's tools wiki and pre-setup your commentaries as favorites under a favorites directory.

But that method is headachy since they come in as a series of un-linked tabs. So the ultimate easiest way to simply set up a layout that includes your favorite commentaries and then link them to your Bibles etc.

Of course you could use your passage guide limited to your commentaries but that would only show partial texts for subsequent selection.

Thanks Denise for your reply. The strange thing is, the + sign next to the Tab does *not* give me all my commentaries but just in this case, four. If I click on the Parallel Resource Set, this will give them all.

My question then could be - why does the + sign not give me the list of all commentaries?

Please post a screenshot, wondering about commentary reference focus when clicking "+"

For example, New Tab list for Ps 1 is larger than Ps 1:1 (noticed my Commentary OR Notes collection includes five more resources than All parallel resources):

Odd: new tab for Ps 1 has 3 more resources than all parallel resources.

Note: moved New Tabs for screen capture comparison.

Here's what I get upon opening a verse such as 1Jn 3:15 - hitting the +tab does *not* bring up all the commentaries. If I can post this, this is what I'm looking at, at present.

I have found a way to get as many commentaries under the Interlinear as I wish, but not by pressing the +tab. That gives me nothing but a very few and in this instance, Lenski.

Peace and Joy to you, Bootjack!                    *smile*

I've tried it several times.  Hitting the + gives me all my commentaries that are connected with the passage in the first one.

For example, if you open Lenski to John 1.1, then hit the +, Logos4 will then show you all your commentaries that deal with John 1.1.  Old Testament commentaries will not show.

Thanks for screen shot.  Looking at New Tab (next to Lenski commentary), am seeing scrollable lists of book covers and Commentary titles.

Appears Passage Guide Commentaries for "All Commentaries" is actually Commentary plus Notes.  The "+" tab with an active Commentary only shows Commentary resources (does not have Notes).  Likewise All Parallel Resources in a Commentary only shows Commentary resources.  Option: create a collection of Commentary OR Notes to show in parallel resources.  For screen capture, clicked "+" from a commentary then moved panel so could compare list of resources with Passage Guides (clicked "more" in COMMENTARIES sections to display list of all resources containing 1 JN 3:15):

Added rectangles around resources with type:Notes.  Compared Passage Guide "All Commentaries" with Commentaries OR Notes collections, found identical resource lists.

Milford, when I hit the +, it gives me the New American Commentary, Holman & Lenski - nothing else will come up. If I hit the Parallel Resources, I get a looooong list of commentaries. Obviously, something is awry.

KSFJ - I think you lost me with the first syllable - can you explain that again in different words maybe?

Apologies [:$] when click "+" for New Tab for a Commentary, personally puzzled by which resource book covers appear on left side (different covers for different commentaries).

The right side of New Tab has list of all Commentary resources with passage:

Note: orange bar shows which commentary was active when "+" clicked for New Tab.

Milford my good man, take advantage of those prices. You might wind up with a Lobster hangover, but at that price, it should be well worth the ride. It wasn't so long ago that the fisherman were getting better than 12.00 per pound for those things. Now they're just a shell of a price to what they used to be.   :-)

KSFJ - I'm sitting here totally amazed at just how brilliant I am!!!??! When I clicked on the Tab, I was zeroing in on the Books to the left, not paying whatsoever attention to what was on the right. It is as you say of course, all are listed on the right side. I was thinking for some weird and wonderful reason, that all the Commentaries would be listed on the left, such as the four or five that do appear when I first click on the +tab. I'm almost afraid to ask, but does any know the reason for that?

Thank you both for coming in on this. Your help is always appreciated!!!   :-)
