Logos at Mac Start Up

Can someone explain to me what the Logos program does in the background when I start up my Macbook? Is this a necessary function and if not, how can I prevent this from slowing down my Mac start up? Thanks.

  Hi Mike,

  It essentially checks everything is updated, You can stop it, I have because it slows login down too much for me, see:

  for how to change this behaviour. Just double check your typing!
