Tell me it isn't so ... Result map for Bible search results

When I search on "Judith" the grid results show 50 verses in which the name appears ... does so with excellent speed and a clear presentation. Thanks.

However, when I switch to the result map - nice feature, by the way - only 1 verse appears. Are the deuterocanonical books omitted from the graphic representations? Does the result map ignore the Jewish 3-fold division of the Scripture?

Please tell me it isn't so.

In searching the NRSV, I get 49 results, all but one in Genesis 26:34, the rest in the book of Judith.

The Graph show the references in Judith just fine.

EDIT: I don't know where I got '49' from. I get 34 results in 33 verses. Sorry.

It's on the "result map" that it doesn't show up. Only the hit in Genesis shows because the "map" doesn't include the book of Judith:

There was, uh, heated discussion about how to handle the various canons. I think what Logos is trying to do is base the canon upon the bible text you are using for the search, and this seems to be there for built in search ranges for Bible Search.

To be honest, I had never used the visual "Graph results". It certainly appears that the result map report is hard wired to a certain canon choice. The rest of the graphs do include the hits in the book of Judith, at least for NRSV, NAB, and NJB. As frustrated as I can understand you are over this, Damian McGrath in particular argued quite passionately about fixing the search ranges so that they make sense to people who are not limited to the Protestant canon, and Logos has been quite responsive.

Of course, strictly speaking, the three fold canon should be the default for the JPS and BHS. Whatever else we Christians may disagree about with regards to the OT, we do mix the Prophets and the Writings from a Jewish perspective.

Also, if you click on Export to Excel (if you have Excel), with the NRSV selected, the hits in Judith will appear, in addition to the Bar and Column Charts.

We redesigned the graph results feature to support multiple maps; we just haven't implemented the others yet. Feel free to suggest specialized layouts -- all we need is a proportionally sized box for each book of the versified resource.

There is a different result map layout for BHS, but that is the only only one I am aware of at the moment.

I'm absolutely amazed...I hadn't noticed that "Graph Results" text in the Bible Search before...this is pretty cool!

It is sad that the Result Map won't slew to the Apocrophal Books like the other reports do...that might encourage me to check them out more--they certainly get pretty much no mention in my church.

Feel free to suggest specialized layouts

It seems to me that the minimum are:

the Tanakh
the "North American Protestant" - my nickname for your current layout
the Anglican/Lutheran - NRSV with deuterocanonicals
the Catholic (NAB, NJB)
the Orthodox (Orthodox Study Bible)

I know that there are a number of others, but the Big 5 should meet the needs of most users.If you ever publish the Christian Community Bible which I highly recommend, its sequence should also be added to the list.
