How long does indexing take?

I have about 2000 resources.
Indexing has been going for a couple of hours.
The time remaining is 31:23 and rising!
Is this what i should expect?

There should be a little blue icon in the menu bar (Mac), the tool tip gives the time remaining.

Indexing takes a long time, but trust me - it is worth waiting for. Hang in there and you will be having lots of fun when it is done.

I am using the PC version, and that one has a Logos logo in the system tray. Hovering over that will give a time estimate. Sorry, but I am not familiar with the Mac version. But maybe there is something similar.

Hover your mouse over the L4 icon in the system tray and it will give
you an approximate time remaining. Please note that it is NOT
accurate, it's a guestimate based upon how long other resources have
taken so far. Since each resource is different, it will vary greatly.
But it's the best that can be done right now.Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.

When I hover, I don't have an estimated time - just 49% of xGB
It is progressing - slowly.

Your lucky then. Mine has been indexing for about 7 hours and it has finally gotten to where it is under 10 hours to go (mine is the Mac engine though). Also, so far I have not been able to open the program. I do not know if this is because it is indexing or if something else is wrong. I noticed Bob said there was an update (I think after I started indexing) but not sure if I should try the update while it is indexing (would hate to have to go through the index again).

I cant even get it to index. But I am told you can close logos and leave the blue icon doing its job...perhaps overnight! I just wish I could get as far as Michael even WITH the update which is now available

Mine's been indexing for 12 hours, still says 9:44 to go!

1 Gig netbook + 7.7 Gig resources = 10 hours so far, 13 to go...

Well, it went down to 4 hours last night before I went to bed. The indexing crashed at 57 minutes sometime during the night. Now I am back to 10 hours again.

I have Scholar's and a 1st gen Macbook Pro and for the last 10 hours it has said "Logos Bible Software is downloading updates (0% of 5.8GB). The indexing process is using a very high amount of CPU and has been all night. I'm wondering if I should kill it and start over or let it continue to run?

I was almost finished twice the the indexing, but the computer downloaded a windows update and yes... indexing started from scratch. Turn off anything that would disrupt this process unless you want to spend much more time with the indexing process. A notice to this effect would have been nice. Learn from my mistake.

Indexer loves hibernate, if you need to turn off your machine hibernate it and you will not restart your indexing
I have >3000 books, a full complete re-index takes my system 19hours

I'm at 26 hours. The time remaining says 5:37.

it took about 4-4.5 hours on my machine after downloading 7.1GB worth of resources... i did help boost it a bit by increasing the priority in the task manager (i'm not sure how much of an effect it had, but it seemed to help a bit)

It's already 26 hours (sigh)... This morning, it showed 2:34 but then it jumped up to 12:23, and now at 23:04. Something is not right...

36 hours so far. I killed the indexer and restarted Logos and it finally started downloading. Looks like it's indexing now. 13 hours remaining.

I have a PC DVD version on the way. I also have the Mac version, so I downloaded the v4 alpha. I had about 5500 v3 .lbxlls files. I think it downloaded about 10GB (it said yesterday it was downloading xx% of 10GB, and today the downloader is gone). Now, the indexer is running, and says 146:00 remaining.
Then, it might start over?
I can, by the way, open resources (though Greek font isn't there -- I haven't tried a lot of different resources).

For me the Indexing on a windows PC went fine. 2 hours and it was done.
But the Logos 4 win version on my fusion emulator is still indexing for 2 days it shows me 3 hours left.
Similar at my mac alpha: there it seems to be downloading and / or indexing - but it has never shown me how far it is. The Indexing gets my macbook very hot - and loud... bad sign.
