the search feature doesn’t work

When I type the word "alien" in the search box and
search all bibles or any criteria a message pop-up and says logos has stopped
working. Does anyone have any answers?
After trying again for other word searches the search feature doesn't work on any thing. Does anyone known what's going on?
thanks

Sam,
It sounds like it could be a corrupt index, but we won't know for sure until you get some diagnostic logs, and upload them.

Could you include a screenshot, showing the kind of search you tried? Maybe uploading some logs could help for the specialists out here.
It works on my machine in Basic Search, but this won't help you I guess...

I'm not Mick, but here are the steps:
1. Open a Search tab, and make sure it's set to do a Basic search:
2. Type the topic you want to search for in the Find box (e.g., communion) and press Enter.
If that topic (possibly listed under a synonym) exists in Logos's controlled vocabulary database (LCV), the topical search results will appear in the TOPIC section at the top of your search results. You might find it collapsed, in which case you'll have to click the little triangle to the left of it to expand it:
Once expanded, it will look like this:

Sam,
Rosie explained it perfectly. You may find even more information on the wiki pages, especially here: http://wiki.logos.com/Topical_Search_Suggestions . One point you'l find there: The topic search is invoked only if you select "entire library" for the basic search, otherwise it just won't come up in the results:
hope this helps,
Mick

Good to hear
OT - you are working on a windows machine, presumably? Under us German-speaking Microsoft users there is the saying "Reboot tut gut" (it rhymes very well and means something like "rebooting is good for you/your machine" - maybe it is as old as MS-DOS, but it survived well into Vista. I'm reminded less and less of this, since I use Windows 7 on my private PC.

Good point. Important point! I forgot to mention that.
We've been trying to get Logos to change the behavior of this so the Topic section will come up regardless, since many people like you have overlooked this feature since it's sometimes not very visible. But so far no movement on that front. Also it would be nice if Topic Search were more clearly something the user could select from the user interface. The current behavior is great once you know where to find it, but it's not very intuitive.
