Are Notes Indexed?

Hi Everyone,

I tried searching the forums and wiki before posting this but couldn't find an answer, so I apologize in advance if this has been answered before elsewhere.

I'm curious if the notes I create are indexed and if so, how often? I know that the search results have a "My Content" section and my older notes do appear there during relevant searches.

However, when I create new notes and then do a search, they aren't showing up as hits in the My Content section.

Am I doing something wrong or did something change in the program?

I'd appreciate anyone who could help me understand this better.

Notes are indexed in the Documents index which allows their words to appear in My Content. It can take up to 3 minutes for a new word or note to be indexed. Similarly it can take up to 3 minutes for a deleted word/note to be removed from the index.

Thanks for your quick response Dave. I rechecked and it looks like Logos has finally indexed the notes. But I did notice one thing, in one of the notes I put a verse reference (1 John 1:1-10).  The note has also been hyper linked so when I put the cursor over it the verse appears.

However, when I search for the verse in any format [such as: 1 John 1:1-10, <1 John 1:3> etc.] I can't get any search results for that note. In other words, if I go to my search box and want to find any notes that have that verse or verse reference, it isn't showing.

    Is that normal?

The acceptable search format for a hyper linked bible reference is  <1 John 1:3> and I was able to find it in a Note with 1 John 1:1-10; make sure it is properly linked by hovering.

Looks like the problem was a combo between an "extra-long indexing" and a formatting error on my part.

Thank you for your help, I appreciate it.

Well I thought the problem was fixed but now it looks like it isn't. Some of my verse ranges get indexed and show up in a search and others don't. I verified that all the hyperlinks were done correctly and they are (hovering works).

Any ideas why some would work and others not?

Provide examples of those that do not work (the exact format you used).

I went back and checked to make sure everything was hyperlinked correctly again because I'd feel horrible if I realized I was making a dumb mistake and inadvertently wasting your time. I know this sounds like I just don't have them hyperlinked correctly but
I'm pretty sure I do. They are in blue and the verse appears with a
mouse hover. The only thing I can tell is somehow something goes wrong
when the range goes beyond the chapter.

For example I have Ecclesiastes 1:1-2:26 , Ecclesiastes 2:1-3, and Galatians 3:15-25  all hyperlinked in a note . Searching for <Ecc 2:1> (or 2:2 or 2:3) or anything within the Galatians range is the only thing that will bring back a hit. Searching for anything in Ecclesiastes outside of 2:1-3 won't bring back a hit at all (i.e <Ecc 1:6>).

I then went and looked through several other note files I have, and I don't have any problems with any of my verses coming up in searches EXCEPT when they cross chapter ranges. I.e. a search for Matthew 1:23 doesn't bring back a note with a range of Matthew 1:20-2:23 or a search of Acts 6:14 doesn't bring back a note with a range of Acts 6:12-7:2. Searches within verse ranges that are within the same chapter work fine though. (i.e a search result for Acts 8:3 appears when I search a note with a range of Acts 8:1-5)

It seems that somehow, whether a global bug or just my computer, any search for any verse in a note file that lies within a range that crosses chapters, will not show up in my search results.

    Any advice?

It's because the type of reference search used by default does not cross chapter boundaries; see http://wiki.logos.com/Detailed_Search_Help#Searching_for_Bible_Verses_and_other_References i.e. <Ecc 1:6>  is the same as  <bible ~ Ecc 1:6> whereas you need <intersect Ecc 1:6>

Wow that works. It's not very intuitive at all for a new user but it works. Thank you for your help and patience Dave. I appreciate it.
