Is there an additional download necessary for viewing VYRSO books on my destop computer? Or does one purchase them only with an IPad?
One purchases them through the Logos Order page just like any other Logos resources and may view them in Logos 4 (not 3) again just like any other resource.
Exactly what does "just like any other resource" mean? Can one highlight? Attach a note? Will they turn up in a search?
All those functions depend on the software you're using, not the books. I can attach notes, highlight text and search a Vyrso book in Logos, but not (yet) in the Vyrso app itself.

Are you calling Logos4 resources a Vyrso book, or is there a new class/format of books different from .logos4 (or whatever is the L4 format is)?
I thought Vyrso was just the reader software (albeit on different platforms) that can read regular L4 resources.

Great!
So the only real difference is that they're not tagged the way normal Logos books are? But I believe I saw somewhere that the Bible references are tagged?
See http://www.logos.com/support/vyrso/faq
My conclusion is that it supports only L4 books, but not all are compatible.

Yes. See the screenshot (I just right-clicked in a sentence). The Vyrso-book also shows up in search results. The resource is just a monograph between all the others. It contains some footnotes as well. From a PC user standpoint, vyrso serves as an additional catalogue of less-tagged Logos 4-resources. Actually I first had expected a Vyrso for PC-reader software (like Kindle for PC) and a "Vyrso skin" for the shop, but then I realized that Vyrso is meant to "lure" customers to the "original Logos".

They are, and they will appear in their pop-up style as usual and will invoke your favorite bible at this location. I think, due to the ref-tagger Logos already has code that detects bible references (if formatted in English). And the Vyrso-sold resources will contain much less of these, so they can produce books much faster than usual.
Hope this helps,
Mick
Thanks for clarifying things! This sounds really promising actually.
Now I just hope Logos has made some good deals with the publishers that sell the kind of books I am interested in. Most of what I'd like shouldn't require much tagging, so this format should suit them fine.
This is helpful. Is there a listing of books available in VYRSO?

Bill,
Currently there are only the books available on the front page of vyrso.com
Thanks, Damian.
So if I have an ipad with L4 on it then is there a reason to get vyrso?
No.
Thank you.
Not really at this time. However in the future there may be features of the app you might want if you do a lot of reading of L4 books on your iPad.
The only difference that I have heard of is that rather than doing a word study when you select a word, at some point in the future it is supposed to look up the word in a dictionary. I hope this feature is added to both Logos and Vyrso.
Here's Bob's note about what the difference is: http://community.logos.com/forums/p/33023/246873.aspx#246873
Here's my suggestion that a dictionary lookup feature get added to Logos: http://community.logos.com/forums/t/33451.aspx
Please pardon me for not knowing anything about Vyrso. This has probably been answered 100x already, I just don't know where to look.
I don't have any mobile reader (iPad, Kindle, or Android app) and don't have a great need for one at the moment. I am interested in expanding my horizons in reading in Logos., Will Vyrso have books that will not be "Logos" resources? How do I read a Vyrso book in my Logos 4 laptop?
Thank you for your patience.
Vyrso is just a stripped down Logos reader. All Vryso books work in Logos. Vryso books are converted from publisher-provided ePub files, so the publisher, not Logos, is responsible for the content. The difference between Vryso books and Logos books is that Vryso books have fewer features: there is no tagging or linking other than Bible references (which are detected automatically), and the metadata is rather limited (no topic metadata, for one).

Thank you Todd for clarifying that. I hoped that was what we were getting. So, if they decide to publish the works of George MacDonald in Vyrso, it should be cheaper and readable on a mobile device as well as on my Logos laptop. It is conceivable we could get the works of C.S. Lewis in Vyrso. At least the Chronicles of Narnia. Here's hoping. [:P]
Yes. It costs nothing. I do my reading, as opposed to study, on Vyrso.
Tho I hope they'll fix some of the bugs that make it close down etc.
