4.3 Beta 6: PBB import bug: one normal paragraph treated as heading

In this book I'm using as a test case (Andrew Louth's The Origins of the Christian Mystical Tradition), one particular paragraph gets parsed as a heading and put into the table of contents, but it's just a normal paragraph like all the others. (Style: book_para). The fact that it happens to begin with a number (I've inserted page numbers in where they go in the printed book, but I don't yet know how to make Logos create a page index for my book) can't be the problem because there are other paragraphs like that which import just fine without being treated as headings. EDIT: And another normal paragraph that doesn't start with a number also shows up in the TOC a bit later.

I wasn't able to create a smaller document with just the a few paragraphs from around where that paragraph is to reproduce this. Let me know if you need me to email the full .docx file to reproduce it. It's a copyrighted text which I don't have the right to share electronically with anyone so it's a bit problematic, but if you could promise to delete it after reproducing and fixing the bug, I think that would be OK.

You're right...looks like the problem was mine in word and not PBB. I'm not sure why it's all messed up in Word, but it is.

Is your page number a character style? Perhaps that's causing the issue.

I find that some one-line paragraphs are likely to change outline level. It's extremely annoying, and has happened both in 2007 and 2010.

Yes, it is a character style (pagenum), but so are all the other page numbers I've put into the document, many of which come at the beginning of paragraphs, and none of those paragraphs show up in the TOC. Also this paragraph has no page number at the beginning of it (and no character formatting) and it shows up in the TOC:

And there's no hidden text at the beginning of any of these misbehaving paragraphs.

I suspect this is the 'long article' problem that Bradley mentioned elsewhere. Not a bug, so much as unwanted behaviour.

Those are usually pretty much synonymous in my book. [:)] I wouldn't expect that this is the planned, intended behavior, and therefore it is by definition a bug. If it was by design but I didn't like the design, then that's a different story.

EDIT: Mind you, I don't know what the "long article" problem that Bradley mentioned is. Couldn't find it with a Google search.

In other resources, the article is split into sections, without headings appearing in the TOC. Hopefully Logos can manage this for PBBs, too.

I don't like it either. There are instances where I've added all the possible headings to a document, and still I get the unwanted automatic TOC entries.

In the following two books, I don't want the TOC entries that I've marked out, but I can't see any way of getting rid of them:

If Logos needs to generate a new section automatically (and an associated title), I would prefer that it is not listed in the TOC.

Also, since the automatic section title will show up in searches, could it be titled the same as the previous section title? As it is right now, the automatic section titles are useless when it comes to identifying a section.

For example, in the Sherlock Holmes book above: instead of titling a section "I placed my revolver, cocked, upon the top...", couldn't it be labeled with the same title as the previous section: "The Red-Headed League" (i.e., there would be two sections with the same title, but only the first one would show up in the TOC). That would be my preference.

If making it exactly the same is a problem, append a part number to the end: ""The Red-Headed League, part 2". In either case, though, I still don't want to see it in the TOC.

That's what happens with 'proper' Logos resources.

Amusingly, I'm having trouble with it not recognizing headings ... but am slowly working through the issues.
