Two Questions
1. Qill there be a ftee version of Logos 4 anailable as with past versions and if so, any idea when?
2. I've viewed all the Logos 4 videos on the Logos site and read several reviews and am extremely impressed and can hardly wait to try it. However, I have found nothing about the note taking capabilities of Logos 4. This seems surprizing to me because the note taking capabilities of Logos 3 was one of its greatest weaknesses IMO. Are there any reviews that cober this area of Logos 4?

Yes, there is a free logos 4 version that uses your logos 3 resources. Do not get rid of your logos 3. The upgrading options are awesome, but the bank is broke a little while longer for me.

Yes, there will be a link to a free version eventually but I'll leave it up to the Logos team to determine when it is distributed.

I can give you a quick review. Notes in V4 are an improvement IMHO, but not a huge step forward. They are now searchable, and are returned in every library search in their own section. They are also returned in passage guides. There is a new kind of note file called a clipping file, which is great when you have that perfect quote you want to keep. Also, notes are all over the place. You can attach a note to a section of a guide, a clipping, and I'm sure other places as well. Formatting of the notes seems to be improved but I haven't done much with formatting to tell you the truth. I'm holding off on getting too involved with notes till I know how much is going to be importable from L3 to L4. Bob has stated that an importer is high on the agenda.http://www.logos.com/4/missingfeatures but if you are looking for a word processor inside of logos, you will not find it.

You build a great case for me "wanting" to use the Notes feature. I am so tempted in a very good way. My one huge hesitation is, given the experience of L3 notes moving to L4, if I invest my time etc. in L4 notes, then could it come crashing down when L5 comes out. If there was a feature to export to rtf, then it would be easier to decide.

Some kind of exporter is coming, and its at the top of the list. (http://www.logos.com/4/missingfeatures) I guess we made our wheel squeak loud enough during beta. However how well it imports remains yet to be seen. From past conversations in the beta creating one would not be easy...and "not easy" in business terms means "expensive." But my hat goes off to Bob for listening to us.
and by the way Bob, thanks for not listening to us in the L3 days...seriously. I'm glad I do NOT have a full featured word processor in Logos 4. You gave us, at least in my opinion, what counts and spent your resources giving us great deals on resources. I don't want to search a maze anymore when all I want to do is leave a little note.
I would say there are two things that still need to be. I think one of them is being worked on. 1) Hyperlinking to resources inside logos needs to work in L4 notes. I shouldn't have to open up Word. 2) I would love to have some way of adding addition resource links to my saved guides. If I can't do this in the guides' notes sections, then a new section where I could drag a tab to create a link.
One other note on notes...if you want to create a hyperlink in a note to a website, highlight the text you want to link, and then type the FULL url in the hyperlink box (http:/ /www.blablabla.com)
