Will it be (is it) possible to use all the search functions in a file created by PBB? Boolean, etc.
Not yet. We have been testing it but PBB's don't seem to get indexed yet, so it isn't possible to search in them at all. Wait for the next beta.
Can some one tell,me what the cost of the PBB will be? Is there a way which I can use for my Amharic bible in Logos?
Hi Tes, we don't yet know what the cost will be. Right now you can use it for free in the beta test, but the books generated by the beta version will not be readable by the shipped version once that is released, so it's only for testing at the moment. However you could play around with it and see whether you can get a portion of your Amharic Bible into a PBB. That would be very exciting if you could.
It is quite a finicky process at the moment, so I suggest you wait until Beta 7 or 8, when it will be a bit more stable. You will probably need quite a bit of help from other beta testers who are figuring out how the PBB syntax works as we go, and how to get the document into the proper clean XML format for it to work. There are still some crashing bugs, too. But this really does look hopeful. A long awaited feature, but they did a really nice job with the user interface, so I think we are all going to feel it was worth the wait.
Blessings Tes,
As Rosie said, you could play around with it and see. To give you some encouragement, Mark Barnes has already produced three or four non-English bibles as a test. I have produced a Syriac New Testament. While the PBB is really finicky at the moment, it should be possible to do what you want.
Thank you Rosie and James,
That's a good question. As a minister, I already own the PBB with the yearly fee waived. I'm able to share my books with others, but I would definitely like to know if us owners of the libronix edition will get a discount for the upgrade or just get charged full price, since this is a completely different, and new, animal. Hopefully, we'll just have to do a crossover small fee. I also hope they do away with the yearly license thing and just let everyone who purchases it have it.
We have been testing it but PBB's don't seem to get indexed yet, so it isn't possible to search in them at all.
Actually, they do get indexed (there's a third index now, specifically for PBBs). It seems rather that the search facility is not yet looking at this index.
