New American Commentary (NAC) Questions

I noticed on the Logos 4 package compare page that for the silver and up packages that the NAC mentions 37 volumes. The series in this link has 31 volumes: http://www.logos.com/product/7834/the-new-american-commentary-series. Anyone know why the stand alone series outside a base package only had 31 volumes?

Also for anyone who owns the NAC, what is your opinion of the series and would you recommend it to others? Thank you and Lord bless!

When the series was launched, only 31 volumes were available. Since then, the collection hasn't been updated, instead the additional volumes are available separately. If you wanted to purchase them at the same time as the 31 volume set, it would be worth asking sales whether they'd be willing to give you a discount.

FYI, there are volumes that are not included in the base packages, too. You'd have to purchase these two separately even if you upgraded to Scholars Silver:

Isaiah 40–66, Gary Smith
Zechariah, George L. Klein

Plus there is a volume still on prepub:

Hebrews by Allen, David L.

Which, I think, makes a total of 40 volumes (included the pre-pub).

P.S., I would recommend the series. I'd also recommend upgrading to Silver as the best way to get it.

I'll echo the sentiments above: I just lead a Bible study through Galatians and found this intermediate commentary to be far more useful for developing thoughtful questions and application than the WBC or others. I haven't worked extensively with all of the other volumes but the Galatians volume is among my favorite reads.

Agree that the NAC is an excellent value. I have used it since the first volume came out in 1992. Like all sets, some volumes are stronger than others - for instance the Romans volume is extremely disappointing to me. However, there are some really strong ones - Galatians, Hebrews, Matthew, Luke come to mind.

If you have the 37 that come with the silver or higher, then as Todd noted you need to add: Isaiah 40–66; Zechariah; and Hebrews (prepub).

The best-commentaries website suggests that four titles are forthcoming:

Psalms 1-89, Robert Cole

1 Corinthians, Mark Taylor

Ephesians, Paul Wolfe

I am unsure if the duplication is a typo or not (I assume it is). Also, I could not find any info on plans for Psalms 90-150.

Thanks for the info Alabama24! I have Platinum plus other resources that make it look as if I owned Portfolio...lol...[;)]

Anyway, I'm certainly looking forward to seeing the complete BECNT, Pillars and NIGTC series. I'd definitely love to own those. I wonder why Logos hasn't published the BECNT on Acts. I guess they're waiting on the others to have a BECNT Vol. 2 since Vol. 1 includes 8 commentaries.
