Prioritize commentaries in collections?

First time forum guy and new Logos user.

I just got back from Camp Logos. Morris Proctor rules! Right now I am trying to set up my collections, specifically my commentaries. At Morris' suggestion I am creating a 'my guide' with one of the searches being my commentary collection. My only trouble is that when I generate a report it does not prioritize them like it does in passage guide. (I have prioritized them in my library). Is it even possible to prioritize commentaries when they are being searched in a collection? Any help would be appreciated. I hope my question makes sense.

Barton, welcome and glad you enjoyed Camp Logos. Sorry, there is no way to prioritize outside of Library. You can create smaller collections and include all of them in your custom Passage Guide but that would be the best you can do.

Yes, your custom guide should pay attention to commentary prioritizations, as long as you put your commentary collection into a Commentaries section in your custom guide as opposed to a Collections section.

You'll probably find that Mark Barnes's excellent Unofficial Logos 4 Training Video on Prioritizing will reinforce what you learned from Morris Proctor, and more. Barton, not to speak for Rosie, but I believe all she did was create collections of commentaries (you can see the names she gave those collections in the example screenshot) and then used them in multiple instances of the Commentary section of a custom Passage Guide. By prioritizing some or all of these commentaries in Library, they show up in that order within the collections when searched.

In your custom Passage Guide simply add multiple Commentary sections and select a different collection of commentaries for each Commentary section. Here's a screen shot of the PG setup:

It had little to do with prioritization.

First, I tagged all my commentaries according to which type they are, based on a suggested categorization that Morris published on his website. I don't know where that file he published has gone since his website got reorganized, but I saved a copy of it; here it is: 7752.Commentary Collections.doc

Then I made a collection for each of my types of commentaries, based on the tag I'd applied for each of the types. For example:

Finally, I created my custom Passage Guide with a different Commentary section in it for each of my commentary collections, according to their types.

Within each collection, the commentaries do follow the order of my prioritization in my Library, but there there's only one list of priority order; it's not broken up by category. So for example, in my Application/Devotional Commentaries section of my PG, the highest prioritized commentary that is tagged AppComm will show up first, etc. But then if I run a generic PG sometime, which has only one commentaries section, it will show all my commentaries merged together in priority order, without regard to what type they are.
