Logos representative speaking at the SBC Pastor's Conference just said that the Android app is in beta and will likely release in the next few weeks. CAN'T WAIT!

I turned on the live feed just as Scott started his presentation. He definitely sold the cross platform compatibility with Android coming soon. Good presentation!

According to respected tech guru Anand Lal Shimpi, the ASUS Eee Pad and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 are worth considering.

I am part of the beta testing for the android app. Right now the app is a basic reader and does not have all the features that the IPad version enjoys. This is a beginning but I know I can trust Logos to get the android version to the level of the Ipad.

Thanks for the information Jim. Looking forward to finally having access to Logos in any form on my Evo. Any word on whether Barnes & Noble are going to allow the app to be sold on the Nook?

I have not heard anything about this, but right now I think Logos is focused on getting the app right.

I use the Acer Iconic A500. I like it better than my Ipad.

Hi Ted,
I considered four: Asus Eee Pad Transformer, Motorola Xoom, Acer Iconia, and Galaxy Tab. I ended up choosing the Asus. I liked the feel of it, especially the grip of the non-smooth surface of the back of it; the page turning was much more responsive in the book reader app than on the other ones I tried (though of course there are other e-reader apps available and they probably vary); I didn't want to wait for the new 10-inch Galaxy Tab (all that's available now is the 7" one -- the 10-inch one is supposed to ship June 17, but I didn't figured I'd actually be able to get my hands on one for quite some time); the Acer was buggy and kept crashing; the Xoom was the heaviest and didn't have a regular USB port. I like that the Transformer has a regular keyboard docking station because I cannot type very fast on those virtual keyboards.

Rosie, thanks a million! Your response got to the heart of my query. I am not a tech person and unable to find my way round new gadgets. So arm with the info you have provided I can now go to my local PC World shop down here in London and try the various tablets you have mentioned in your post. I must say it was quite embarrassing trying to explain to the shop assistant ( PC World) what I wanted to use the tablet for, as they were not familiar with Logos Bible software and I wasn't making sense in my communication. Basically I did know what I was talking about!
I am glad that you have helped narrowed the options & saved me a lot of time and hassle. Much appreciated.

I, too, am part of the beta and have the app running on my Nexus S and a Samsung Galaxy Tab 7". The app scales well to fit both screens . . . how do you find the app on the 10.1" screen?
I don't know if it's just an IOS thing or not, but unless the app is specifically written to allow use on both an iPhone and iPad, a native iPhone app just looks awkwardly stretched when the app is 2X sized on the iPad screen. This seems to be a non-issue with Android! [8-|]
It will be nice with the other IOS features are available on the Android app also . . . word study, etc.!

I have been hanging out for an Android App since November when I traded in my Iphone for an android after I heard Logos were developing an android app. Is anyone able to sign up for the Beta or is it invite only, was there an expression of intererest or anything in the past?

No, it does not run any version of Windows. It runs Android, which is a different operating system, based on Linux. It is a much simpler OS than Windows. It will not run Windows applications. You know, like your iPad does not run Windows -- it has its own operating system. Android is kind of like that. Only different. But like the iPad, it can run only apps that are written specifically for that operating system. So that is why Logos is working on a Logos app for Android, when they already have a Logos app for iPhone/iPad. The apps will not run on a different OS from the one they were written for. And the full Logos Windows/Mac application will not run on any of these tablet devices.

I too took the plunge recently and a got an iPad 2. I can honestly say that I have been really impressed with the functionality of tablets. I look forward to seeing what Logos has in store for the iPhone/iPad app and following the progress of the android app. It is kinda nice to not have to lug my laptop everywhere I go.

Hey Rosie as always very helpful and informative. I really like the Android OS on my Droid and am looking down the road for a Pad. They are making them really accessible and a great tool. I still think Android OS devices will eventually outstrip Apple's with available apps and tools.

It was done through twitter; sort of a first come first serve. My advice would be to keep an eye on Dan Pritchett's twitter posts.....sometimes things open up...

The ASUS Eee Pad is a nice tablet. It has a docking station that adds a keyboard and make it like a notebook when docked, but a lightweight tablet when undocked. However, you can get a pretty good notebook computer for the combined price of both.
