FW Question: Must I always buy commentary sets?
I have looked before to buy individual commentaries (e.g. Moo's Romans, NICNT), but can only find them as a set. I already have many hardback of the set and do not desire to pay for all of them all over again.
With so many preachers on tight budgets, I would expect Logos to offer books individually. Am I missing something?

It all depends on the publisher. We whined for a long time to get NICOT/NT into Logos. when it did finally come the publisher would only let them sell it as a complete set. Hopefully one day, with sufficient whining, we can break them down further. Even if its just to an OT/NT division, that would be progress!

Welcome to the forums, Thomas!
As already explained, this is a publisher's decision: Commentaries are the resource that benefits the most from bein in Logos, with all those cross-links, footnotes etc. Only a small number of people may read a NICNT commentary consecutively from page 1 to page 987. For the publisher it could mean that they don't sell anymore these heaps of already printed paper commentaries idling in the warehouse. The logos resources would crowd out their paper sales.
But it seems, that some publishers go into the area of single books with some of their e-resource partners. I'd hope they do, and with Logos, since the whole NICOT/NICNT series, even if it is offered on a sale sometimes, is still very pricey.

Besides the publisher issue, I suspect there is also a financial issue. How many people do you think would pay for a separate Philemon commentary? Probably not enough to cover Logos' costs. So either we don't get any Philemon commentaries in Logos -- and therefore no complete commentary sets either -- or Logos' produces them with a loss and risks bankruptcy. Two not very attractive alternatives.
By initially selling only full sets, and not starting the production until the number of pre-orders is high enough, Logos knows all their costs will be covered, and the company will stay financially viable. Provided the publisher allows it they then generally break up the sets a couple of years or so later, but doing it too early would discourage people from signing up for the whole set.
For comparison, print publishers can generally rely on an awful lot of libraries signing up for the complete commentary set, but Logos doesn't sell to libraries, so they have to find some other way to provide the financial stability needed to produce complete sets.

Moo's Romans commentary in the NICNT is available as a single download in Accordance... still waiting for it in Logos.
