Searching Hebrew in iPhone Resources
Hi, I am having trouble searching for a Hebrew or Greek word in a specific resource, in my iPhone app. I have no problem doing this in my regular PC software.

What happens when you try?

Mark, the problem is that I do not see a search window where I can search for a word. The only search window I see is one that shows the Biblical reference.

To do a search, you should:
- tap the Search button at the bottom of the screen (if you're reading a resource, just swipe down to reveal the menu)
- The search screen should show the input box at the top of the screen where you type in your search critera. Underneath are thee buttons. Choose Basic or Bible from the left (depending on what you're searching), then choose the resource on the right (where the screenshot says 'Top Bibles').

Mark, thanks so much. I have been testing that approach and it works very very well, indeed. It does not search in the one item, such as the particular lexicon alone, but rather in all my references. I suppose it will only do the one reference when that is one of the Bibles. But no matter, it is doing what I wanted. For those who may read this post later, it is nice that I can include a word such as לבב without the Massoretic points. Just as in the regular Logos, it will find these references perfectly in the Lexicons. Thanks, again.

Glad that's working. If you want to search for a work from a resource
- Tap and hold the word, and choose search.
- If you wish, tap the resources button (it's labelled 'Top Bibles' in the screenshot), to limit your search. In the resulting menu, your collections will display first, but if you scroll down to the bottom you should see you recently used resources, and you can select just one of those to do your search in, if you wish.
If you want to open a lexicon and go to the exact place (rather than do a search).
- Open the lexicon.
- Swipe down to display the reference box at the top of the screen.
- Do one of the following:
- Use the Table of Contents button to the right of the reference box to select your lemma.
- Type your lemma in the reference box and presss Go.

I am now facing a similar problem. For instance, I am searching for במִי. While I do get a BDB definition, I cannot see Gesenius in the list. The words appears so many times in the BHS that I cannot see its definition in other Lexicons. Any way to exclude Biblical references, and get only the Lexicons? Thanks again, Gregorio (PS. My actual question is the qere reading in Isaiah 25:10, and a comparison to the Dead Sea Scrolls).

Are you doing this from the Bible Word Study? - that remains the best way to get access to your lexicons when online.

You can create a collection for Hebrew lexicons on Logos on your PC/Mac, then search on your iPhone just using that collection (see above).

Mark, thanks for the patience. I have now created an 8 resource collection and named it Hebrew Lexicons (it included HALOT, however, and I do not think that is available on the iPhone, right?). So, how do I save that collection (is it automatic?), and how do I open it in my iPhone Logos? Thanks, Gregorio

Mark, I made some great progress as I was able to see how to view my collection. However, it is not working as I supposed it would. In the Bible Word Study it only shows me Gesenius (my favorite, but not sure why it does not show me the others). Also, in the regular search, where I have it search my collection, Hebrew Lexicons, it does not seem to find anything. Quite strange, so I am sure I am doing something wrong. Best, Gregorio
