Import Sermon Files and PDF's

I just recently upgraded my Logos Scholar's Library Series X Software to Logos 4. I spent 4 hours trying to find the right forum that would help me Import my Sermon Files and PDF's. So, I guess I have 2 questions.

1. Is it possible to import sermon notes and Personal PDF's into Logos 4.

2. Is there a forum, video or tutorial that shows you how to step by step import your Personal Notes and Files..

I am running
Windows Vista 64 bit on my Desktop PC

I've never created a post before I hope provided enough info.

If you have your files in the default directories, type "Import all" without the quote marks in the command box (top of page) and the notes and sermons should transfer over. The PDF's you will want to look at favorites.

If you have the Sermon file addin in L3 then you have to compile your sermon and scan the resulting file into L4 i.e. type Scan <Sermon folder> into the
Command box of L4, restart L4 and it will begin the process, including
indexing. The default location for the <Sermon folder> is (My)Documents\Libronix Resources (enter the full path without quote marks).

Thanks for the help. I have never attempted to do any of this before. As a matter of fact, I'm just now starting to get familiar with the entire program. Is there a certain format I have to save the notes or documents in before they can be read?

When I downloaded Logos 4, completely removed the Logos 3 software from my computer because Logos 4 is downloaded from their server but, I still have my disks. Do I need to re-install the software or what? Sorry, if this doesn't make sense. I just don't have a clue what I'm doing.

As far as the sermon add in is concerned. I don't think that I have it. But, when I followed the link to import personal books it showed that I did have the Logos Reader (if that is the term) and I didn't need to download anything else. Sorry If I'm confusing you. I just don't know what I'm doing...

The reader is not sufficient - the sermon add-in is required for compiling the sermons into a format recognized by Logos. I had misread your initial post and thought that you meant that you had your notes and sermons in Libronix 3 and wanted to import them into Logos 4. So ignore all the advice I gave. It does not apply. Begin here http://wiki.logos.com/Notes and be sure to watch the video. We'll deal with the sermons after we've dealt with the notes.

I have look through the videos and still not I am exactly looking for. I apologize for not being able to explain myself better. I'm a logos rookie. Is there an easier way to import my Sermons that I have typed out of Microsoft Word and my Personal PDF's? Possibly something simlar to the add sermon file or a particular feature that I can purchase to make the process easier. I'm just not able to figure it out.

The sermon function is not yet in Logos 4 which is why I deferred that portion. The function you want for PDF's is currently being tested as a beta. So know, you're just a little early for doing what you want in Logos 4 ... but so close I don't want to teach you the bad habits of my workarounds.

How did you access your sermons in L3 e.g. as Notes/Annotations? If you still have a folder in (My) Documents called Libronix DLS you can import Notes as Martha indicated above.

I don't have anything in the folders. All I have left are the original Word Docs and PDF's. I didn't know if there was a feature that I might could purchase to simply import these file and be able to access them through LOGOS 4.

Logos does not support an import of files that are not in Logos format. The elements that allow us to convert documents into Logos format are based either on the MS Word .docx format or on copy & paste or one can link to the documents through favorites or links within notes. The import function is in beta testing but not all features are in it yet. I can't say when it will be ready of release.

You would need to switch to be beta (test) version of Logos4 and use the Personal Book option. It is not recommended for individuals to use a beta version as their primary Logos installation. Betas are intended for users who are willing to test the system and accept an unstable version that might damage their data. At least wait until the beta is a little further along unless you are a computer or Logos nerd.
