BUG? Non-English PBB Bibles - Milestones problemClosed

It looks to me the problem started only in the last Beta. When verse numbering is different than in English Bibles, the Bible milestones are not recognized. It worked however before.

See the example from one Czech and one Polish Bible:

Here is another picture showing the problem of different numbering:

P.S. I checked the older Beta PBB created from the same docx file and it worked correct, in spite of a different verse numbering.

I will submit your report to development. Thank you.

Thank you Melissa very much indeed.

Just wanted you to know the problem with Bible milestones continues in Beta 11.

EDITED: the number of Beta version.

"Mal 3:19" is not a valid verse in the "Bible" versemap, so it is not recognised or processed. ("Bible" generally uses the NRSV versemap for most books, except for a couple of places where it follows the LXX or KJV instead.)

You would need to specify your Bible milestones with a Bible data type that uses the right versemap. Unfortunately, we don't have any official (or unofficial) documentation on what the available Bible data types are, and what versemaps they use. (There is http://wiki.logos.com/Bible_Datatypes, but it doesn't really have much information.)

In this case, because we've already developed a verse map for Bible, Překlad 21. století (http://www.logos.com/product/9432/czech-bible-21st-century-edition), I suggest you use "BibleB21" (e.g., [[@BibleB21:Mal 3:19]]) for your Bible milestones and check to see if all of them are parsed properly. If some still aren't recognised, it probably means we just haven't found the right data type to use yet.

We don't have any kind of way for you to find this out, but if you reply here with "I need a Bible data type that supports Mal 3:19 and Rev 12:18 [whatever your unhandled references are]", I can look that up for you. (Obviously this isn't very scalable long-term.)

BTW, it would be technically possible for you to put "[[@Bible:Mal 3:18]] ... [[@BibleBHS:Mal 3:19]] ... [[@Bible:Mt 1:1]]" in your source document, but switching back and forth between Bible versemaps on a verse-by-verse (or even chapter-by-chapter) basis has never really been tested in our books. (We create a new Bible data type for the entire Bible, to ensure that linking it to other Bibles works properly.)

If you do this, you're probably very likely to run into all sorts of odd behaviour, so I would strongly recommend using one and only one Bible data type for all the milestones in a single resource.

Thank you Bradley for your very informative answer. I will try your recommendation. I will let you know what results I got.

OK, I tried [[@BibleB21...]] and it works! Great. Thank you Bradley so much.

One observation: when I tried [[@BibleB21.1.1.1]] (It means instead of the Bible books abbrev. I used the numbers) it did not parse anything. With [[@Bible.1.1.1]] it works great. The reason I use it is to get a reference in the language of the resource. Not a big problem, just wanted you to know.

I need the verse map for the Douay-Rheims translation for it's commentary/notes. Thanks

Or, you can find an existing Bible with those verses, and follow these instructions.
