It turns out this is a great day for even those of us without deep pockets. A new version of Safari and iTunes came in Software Update along with a newer version of the Migration software if you are getting a new Mac with Lion. Safari seems a bit more nimble. [Y]
Has anyone had trouble opening the software update in the system preferences? I updated as much as I could while waiting for Lion to download, but it seems a new version of iTunes is available and when attempting to download I received an error stating the file was corrupted and that I should wait for an auto update for it to be downloaded. Since this time I can't get past the checking for updates percentage bar. I also have to force quit software update to close it down each time.
This sounds like a traffic issue. Were you able to update to Lion? You might have to go Time Machine and then try again. Ideally you should do all your Snow Leopard updates, back up, and then do Lion.
