i am finally moving up to windows 7 this weekend and am planning on doing a clean install. am i going to run into any problems when i go to re-install logos 4 on the computer? do i need to uninstall it or disable the license?
If you're doing a true 'clean' install, you shouldn't have any problems installing on W7. The Logos license(s) are for your resources, which Logos license allows on whatever PCs you personally use (along with iPhone, iPad etc). In other words, you're good to go, and likely Logos appreciates you checking.
Welcome to the forums!
i am finally moving up to windows 7 this weekend and am planning on doing a clean install.
Observation: could have posted in Logos 4 Windows forum for discussion.
am i going to run into any problems when i go to re-install logos 4 on the computer?
Apologies: not know since Windows 7 Service Pack 1 with current stable 4.2b SR-1 release appears to have => indexing bug
Option: could install current Logos 4 Beta, which is 4.3 Release Candidate 1 (should be stable for daily use). If no significant bug(s) are reported in next few days, then Logos 4.3 RC 1 would become stable 4.3 release. Wiki page => Logos 4 Beta Program has Beta download link for setup. Noticed several RC discussions in PC Beta forum, including Personal Book Builder (PBB) and potential sync issue for PBB.
A clean install of Logos 4 needs to download all the resource files in your library. Wiki has => Installation and Indexing FAQ’s (for Windows)

Richard, FWIW I would concur with KS4J that you install the latest beta/RC. It is very solid.
Also you may want to at least copy your books for a faster install (See Method 3) unless you have a very fast internet connection, and I do mean very fast. :-)
My advice would be to use Method 2 rather than Method 3 as this avoids indexing which has been problematic (backup the Logos4 folder before installing W7).
I wondered about that Dave, but since it's a new OS altogether I figured the indexing might be different somehow.... no?
Concur since currently not know cause for => indexing bug (appears Windows 7 Service Pack 1 is common to those who are experiencing indexing issue, which has been reported for 4.2b SR-1 and 4.3 RC 1)
Does RC have any significance? What does it mean?
Apologies: RC = Release Candidate. Logos 4.3 Release Candidate 1 is the current Beta version (should be stable for daily use). Wiki => Logos 4 Beta Program has information + risks.
It is OK between Windows Vista, XP and 7. It is best that the index comes from the same version of Logos4 to avoid re-indexing that sometimes occurs when a newer version is installed.
Hi Richard,
no. All licenses transfer automatically. Keep in mind that logos is rather large and will take some time to install and index and update. Happy studying!
