Anybody get one and get L4 running yet? I am curious how the performance is.....
Anybody??? I would like to hear how L4 does with it.....
I bought one, (base 13), but had it returned, since it turned out to be cost-prohibitive to have it shipped to me. I'll pick up a base 13 when I get back in late August, can't report until then.
The processor and memory tests show them to be very efficient and powerful machines, given their portability. They outperform the 2010 15 Macbook Pro in many tests.

Thats what I hear also...... makes me think it will blow my 2007 macbook out of the water [:D]
I visited the Apple store and began the install process but was unable to use it long enough to complete the indexing process. However, I did get it up and running and it seemed to do very well.
You mean you tried to download your library at a Mac store? That is funny......
Yep, I asked permission first. I also ascertained that restarting the machine would wipe out all traces of the install. it took awhile to download and install but it gave me some time with the machine itself. Of course it was not a good test because the indexing process takes some time. However, in another sense it was a good test in that I was able to see that Logos ran well even while it was still indexing.
Anyone with a 2011 MBPro and SSD will have a very compatible experience except that the video cards are not the same.
I am runing Logos 4 Mac latest beta on a 2011 MBPro with an SSD and it runs well. Much better than with a typical hard drive.
I am running Logos on the new MBA 13", downloaded overnight and seems to be working. Have not seen any problems. But this is my first Mac, I made the switch from a PC with this computer. Before purchasing I did some research and there is a website that shows all the software and any problems with Lion.
How fast does it run?
Startup maybe a little faster, not to noticeable, this is due to it syncing over the internet with Logos. I did a search and then ran a guide (which I built to pull up all commentaries) on a passage and it may be little faster. Overall I don't know that it is a vast improvement. My PC was a core duo with 6gb of Ram so it was pretty fast.
I got the Mac for portability, ease of use, battery, reliability. It met my requirement to be able run Logos and Office. So I did not swap computers to get better performance though I did in some regards.
I just finished setting up my 11 inch i7 air. I will use it heavily today and post the results this afternoon. I have used logos4 on a 15 inch i7 macbook pro and the previous macbook air so I have some good points of reference.
Sounds great!
Stephen, I am wondering how your MBA is doing with L4?
HI Mike,
I'm looking to purchase a MBA 13 inch this week and I've been trying to research how good Logos would work on the new MBA. Today, I went to an Apple store and I decided to download Logos 4 to a MBA 13 inch with these specs:
I couldn't wait for the entire download (had to pick up my wife) but I was able to download 10% of Logos. Believe it or not, it actually worked! I was able to pull up a passage and view a couple translations with 2 commentaries. Additionally, I tried to look up a word but it didn't pull up anything (assuming it was because of the 10% DL). The most important thing I was interested in was how it would perform with other programs running. I opened these programs:
-iCal, Address Book, Safari, Mail, Facetime, Dictionary, and iTunes. Now, I wasn't heavily using any of these programs but I had it all up while browsing through Logos and tried to click around as much as possible to see what type of response I was getting with Logos only. With very minor lag, it was working pretty seamlessly. Please keep in mind, I had 10% of Logos DL, and it was indexing (or so it says it was). I ended up restarting the computer and it erased any trace of Logos. I probably did this all in about 30 minutes. When I compare it to my brand new Toshiba I just purchased (which I'm now returning) I'm impressed... So, I'm planning on purchasing one by this weekend, Lord willing... Hope this helps, I'm looking forward to more thorough reviews as I anticipate to purchase one.
I just finished installing, downloading, indexing L4 on a 13" MBA, 1.8GHz Core i7, 4GB RAM. It's the first time it's ever run fast enough for me to use it, and it does run quite fast.
My previous laptop was a 15" MBP Late 2010, 2.4GHz Core i5, 8GB RAM, 500GB 7200RPM HDD. It was acceptable on it, but I would still use ESVOnline.org, or even boot parallels to run BW sometimes.
Good to hear — the Macbook Air with the current update which has the new Sandy Bridge i5 & i7 CPUs is proving to be a sleeper which has become now very popular. The combination of new CPUs + SSD HDD will have a lot to do with it. It's a shame they don't allow the memory to go beyond 4GB. That really is to me the minimum for running Lion.
Tempted to get one of these for my daughter who is just about to start university.
Lucky Daughter!
I've been using Logos 4 on a MBA 2010. It's usable with Logos, but it's frustratingly slow at times (just depends on what I'm doing). I'm selling my MBA 2010 today and switching to a MBA 2011, i7, 256/4gb.
Beyond Logos (and Civilization 5), the MBA 2010 has been the best laptop I've ever owned. I'm looking forward to my MBA 2011. I'll update you guys once I receive the MBA 2011.
Thanks J.P. - and welcome to the forums!
1.4 Ghz, 2GB, 11" here.
I've been disappointed with the Mac version, so installed Virtual Box, WIN XP, then Logos4Windows. Incredibly it was much more responsive! I also have iStats and it showed Logos4Mac sending the CPU usage through the roof, and the pop-up menu took at least 3 secs to appear. Logos4Windows was much kinder to the CPU, and the pop-up menu still came up quicker. Though, it still was no where near the performance of my desktop, as I expected. It's good enough for my mobile computing needs. I still need a separate speed machine.
I'm just installing Logos4Mac 4.3 and waiting for it to finish indexing. Early signs look promising.

Your machine is an OLD MacBook Air, right? So far, it seems that those with the NEW MBA's have been impressed. Just want to make sure you are not giving a conflicting report.
Good point. I bought mine 5 weeks before the new one with the backlit keyboard came out.
I just had a quick play of Logos4Mac 4.3, and it is much more responsive than 4.2. I can now stop using Logos4Windows on my mac!

Que Homer Simpson voice: "Doh!"
I hate when that happens!
I am running the new 2011 MBA, 13" with the upgraded i7 CPU and 4GB. It's fast. FAST.
Any particular benchmark you'd like me to try out for you? I have the Scholar's Library.
Thanks for the welcome. So I just finished my migration to my Macbook Air 2011 (13", i7, 256/4gb).
The first app I tried was Logos 4.3. I ran an exegetical guide, and it's fast... real fast. The whole application is very responsive now. I tried it again on my MBA 2010, and even there, it seems snappier, but not as fast as the MBA 2011... but still very usable.
Hope that helps.

I purchased the 13", i5, 4g memory, 128 ssd.
Loaded L4Mac 4.3
Logos startup to homescreen (news screen) was 12.2 seconds.
Passage guide loading for Psalm 2 was 5.1 seconds.
I appreciate all the replies.... I have gone to the two stores in my area several times. They are all sold out.... sigh
Noticed new MacBook Air models from Apple => http://store.apple.com ships within 24 hours.
Keep Smiling [:)]
How do you know if it is indexing. It doesn’t seem to be doing anything on my new 13" macbook pro with a 2.1ghz i5 processor.
I also can't find the serial number. it was a gift and I don't know where I put the box. I just had the dvd in a white envelope with the shortcuts page.
Hey Jeff, with license transfers you are going to have to call customer support directly. There is a $20 fee each time you want to transfer any amount of licenses from one account to another. (You can have everything transferred most likely at one time)
Jeff -
When you wrote that "it was a gift.," do you mean that you are now using a license that someone else previously used... or that someone purchased a new license of Logos for you? You only need to "transfer" the license if someone else used it and you have not already done so. You also suggest that you are trying to install this on a new MBA. Did YOU have Logos 4 up and running on another computer?
You can also try to download the Logos 4 installer. If you already have an account, I think that you just enter your account details (email address) and things will start to download. NOTE: unless you have very few resources, it will take a while to download. Some people prefer to do this overnight. The indexing will also take a long time.
If you have any more questions, please ask!
