Are Personal Books indexed?
If they are, are they indexed when the Books are "built"?
Or, does the user need to reindex the library to get them indexed?

PB's are indexed after the book is built and added to your library. The PB index is separate from the other indexes (Bible and Library). So, there is no need to merge the indexes, since the three indexes are separate by design.
If you look at your taskbar following a build of a PB you will note that it states that it is indexing.
OK, I have added a book, in compiled successfully, I saw the indexing start and finish, I added this resourch to a collection and added this new collection to my passage guide. Why don't I see any hits for a reference that I know is in the PBB book?

PBs don't work in the Passage Guide Collection sections. It's an acknowledged bug:

Your comment about the third index is very helpful to understanding the workings of Logos 4. Thank you.
It appears from other comments that there are some issues of not using this 3rd index when Personal Books are part of a searched collection in the Passage Guide. I hope this is made a priority problem resolution by Logos because they advertise that Personal Books will function like Logos resources and that is our expectation!

Thank you for pointing out that this is a bug. I am so happy to have the PBB feature and I what to add several resources to Logos 4, but my reason for added them is to have the ability to have the Bible references in the PBB books picked up by the Passage Guide along with the other resources. I am eagerly awaiting this bug fix.
