Search Help

I'm running 4.3 SR-1. I'm working in 2 Cor 5;16ff. I'm interested in finding parallels where a verbal and a noun from the same LN domain appear in close proximity as καταλλάξαντος and καταλλαγῆς in verse 18 or καταλλάσσων and καταλλαγῆς of verse 19. I'd love to do this with a morphological search if possible, but think (because of the need for agreement) that it will take a syntax search.

Don't have time to refine but hopefully it'll get you started in the right direction.

As I re-read you post I would take off the requirement that they agree in case.

You need to check off the "Matching Skips Levels" in the Unordered Group and Word 1&2 nodes. It should be under "General."

As soon as I turn those on for the two word units and unordered, Logos crashes while running the search. I've deleted my original search and rebuilt it a couple times. Crashes every time. I can run the search on a PC, and it produces 496 hits. Something looks wrong to me....places like Mt 1.18 ( ἐν γαστρὶ ἔχουσα) don't look like real hits to me.

Sounds like you've hit a Mac syntax search bug. Enable diagnostic logging and upload the logs to a new thread with the word Crash: in the title, hopefully the bug can be isolated and fixed in the next release.

Something looks wrong to me....places like Mt 1.18 ( ἐν γαστρὶ ἔχουσα) don't look like real hits to me.

This particular example, ἐν γαστρὶ ἔχουσα, lit. "in womb having" gives an example of LN handling an idiom as one unit. The search catches it because both words together form something that either word separately couldn't.

I don't know if there's any way to filter out occurrences like this...

Thanks for your help. I guess the next step is to convert to a verse list and filter out the idioms by hand.
