I was just wondering if the wbc set is really a good set? Many have said that the set can be hard to follow. I wanted to know your thoughts

I think it can be hard to follow at times but I like it. It has sections for text critical and grammatical issues as well as form and then commentary, oh and nice bibliographies.

Word Biblical in one of the best commentary sets available. It is of more value to those who have some knowledge of Greek and Hebrew, but would be of value to any serious student of scripture. It is on the scholarly side as compared to a more devotional commentary. I would rank WBC and the NICOT / NICNT as the two best sets available. That is just my opinion.
If I had no Greek or Hebrew training, I would think the Tyndale Commentaries might be a better choice.

Saw the info for the sale and was really impressed! Just way beyond my personal budget, even at the great deal that it offers. Many will be happy with this sale!

It has kind of an annoying format (in some volumes the "Commentary" and "Explanation" sections are really very similar, and there is really no good reason for them to be separated in my opinion), but overall it's a pretty good series--I paid $426 for it, on sale, and don't regret it. It's a bit more conservative than I would like, but most of the authors do a good job discussing a range of viewpoints, and this is useful even if their own viewpoint is ultimately disagreeable.
Don't be put off by people who say it's hard to follow. Once you become familiar with its format, it's easy to find what you want.

The Word Bible Commentary set is excellent value, well worth the price if you want a scholastic commentary that deals with the form/structure/setting of the text, translation notes, nuances of the Greek/Hebrew words, and acknowledgement of a range of scholastic views about the text.
Like any set, the quality varies from volume to volume, but you can get some idea of how the WBC scholarship is viewed by noting the number of times its volumes are included in the top 2 commentaries available, according to http://bestcommentaries.com/topcommentaries/
There are better commentaries available, e.g. BECNT (Baker Exegetical Commentary on the NT) is excellent on the NT books it exists for, and there is a pre-pub ugrade for further NT books at present. But for a scholarly whole-Bible commentary set, the value of the WBC is unsurpassed. I use it most weeks.

As the relative value of the big commentary sets tends to be discussed from time to time, maybe you can find a number of older forum discussions by googling for "WBC site:community.logos.com" or likewise.

I use it, not every day, but every week. I got it on sale for $499, excellent value. In this Nelson deal you get lots of other books thrown in for the extra $100. If you've got the funds, go for it!

I had the hardcover set until I discovered them in the Logos version and bought it.
I use this set and appreciate the value. The sale going on now with the additional commentaries and books is a great buy if you are serious about getting this set. Below is a link to a site that has some information on how they rate the commentaries based on factors that are listed on the site. You may find it interesting as the WBC makes it into the top two commentaries for many of the books of the Bible. The site also has library recommendations from various colleges and seminaries.

Again commentaries might be rated differently, depending on the views or backgrounds of those rating them.
