Start L4 and get it to crash (close L4 if necessary)

Zip the log file and attach to your post.**

Log files are created in \My Documents\Logos Log Files.

I am having similar problems with 4.0 suddenly crashing (closing abruptly) when doing basic tasks. I believe my problem is related to having only 64MB of video RAM on board my 4-5 year old laptop's video card. I'm getting to taste 4.0, but realizing that I'll need to get a new computer if I am to use it. Until then, it looks like I'll need to stick with version 3. Too bad... I'm liking what I'm seeing with 4.0... when it's running!

I've seen a couple of other comments similar to yours, Bryan, so I'm wondering if it's a bug. You should enable logging and send them the LOG file. I sent one yesterday, and they responded pretty quickly that they had it. They're coming out with an update this morning which is fixing some bugs, so you might try the update later on today. I believe you just have to type "update now" into the Command box and it will check to see if you have the latest updates.

Thanks for the info. I tried the Update Now and it crashed. So much for that. However, I have enabled Log Files and have posted 3 so far and sent all three to Logos 4 Support email as well.

Don't know what the issue is really. I have 2 Gig of Ram and 512 Meg Video.

As I said it seems to just crash randomly and then with certain commands such as search in Library and now entering the command line.

I have no idea what is happening but I hope Logos folks figure it out.

I have tried to contact them 2 days ago but I am overseas and they said I had to wait online for 30 to 45 minutes. I emailed and have yet to get any reply other than the auto-reply.

Now it is crashing on opening and will not even open now and all I did was try to customize the home page by removing the proctor tips or whatever it is called. It crashed and now it is crashing immediately upon trying to open.

This is what happened to me before that caused me to have to redownload everything do to no tech support from LOGOS.

what do you see that seems to be the same cause? I am not that computer literate for that. This has been happening to a few people, it's got to do with some Nokia software you've got installed, from your log:

Error OurApp Unhandled exception: System.ArgumentException: The language tag 'tl-PH-Nokia' is not supported.

I think I read somewhere a fix won't be far away...

Just hang in there, Bryan as it should not be necessary to re-install. Your recent logs show the same error, so please do not submit any more - you might want to "bump" this to the top of the queue every so often with a "reminder" remark, and/or you can email the logs to support@logos.com.

When you start, hold the Ctrl key down and choose to use a blank layout. Hopefully you can then select a layout from the Layouts drop-down (perhaps even the home page).

Yeah well I hope the fix is a downloadable and install type fix as I am not sure my LOGOS 4 is stable enough to try an update. I cannot use the command line so if it isn't part of the syncronization I may be in trouble.

So how are we going to be able to get this service release 4? Is it going to come via automatic update through the syncronize function of the program or is it going to be a download and install file? How big is this file fix going to be to download?

Is this the cause of it crashing even though it started normal and I tried to customize the home page by removing Proctors tips and tricks as a test and immediately it crashed and crashes immediately when I try to reopen the program now unless I hold the ctrl key and select blank sheet/page whatever?

Before I tried the customize it would crash and I could reopen the program but not after I tried to do the customize.

The feel of the program now looks great and but I cannot use it very well because of all the crashes.

It was released earlier this evening.

Open up logos and enter "update now" into the command bar at the top to force it to check for a download (normally it only checks once a day). Wait a bit and hopefully you'll see the Logos tray icon in the taskbar, indicating a download is in progress.

Well crashes now when trying to use the Go function. It opens up and the little circles just spin and spin and finally it errors out and crashes.

Well it has been crash central around my place still with the SR-4 update. I am loading yet another Log file and have yet to get an tech support from LOGOS. I try to call and am told I will have to hold 30 to 45 minutes or more and I live overseas. Holding that long is not possible, the phone bill would eat me alive. I send emails to tech, logos4feedback, support and syntax and get no replies but the automated replies.

They say in the auto reply someone will get with you soon. I have been emailing since wednesday and still have yet to hear from anyone about this problem. I have gotten one reply here saying SR-4 is going to be the fix and that didn't happen. Logos 4 crashes as much or more with the SR-4 as with SR-3 on my computer.

I am running Windows Vista Home Premium with plenty of ram and harddrive space. I have had no crashing issues with any other programs just LOGOS 4.

I have deleted and downloaded this program twice thinking it could be an error there. I do not know but I do know LOGOS 4 is currently good for nothing but a boat anchor on my computer.

It crashes trying to use the command box, it crashes trying to use search function in the library, it says system not responding then usually crashes shortly there after when I use the GO function with Passage Guide....it crashes and crashes and crashes. It is the most unstable program I have ever tried to use.

But here is another crash log file in case someone from tech or something can help....I am about to delete the whole thing and request a refund of my money.

OK I think I can finally experience Logos 4.

Before I read my email I had opened Logos 4 and it gave the little Icon and said it had an update. It downloaded a 26.something meg file and asked to install update and got caught in a loop, it would run about 75% and go back and say update ready to install yes or no, select yes and it would loop again at 75%. So I thought here we go again.

I opened my email and followed the above link and everything downloaded and installed. So far no crashes. I have had a couple of "Not Responding" but then it opens up.

There seems to be a few bugs with the library search function as I type a word in and for some reason, it opens the first title on the list. Not sure if it is something I clicked or done or if it just opens on its own the first title.

But Finally no crashes...keeping my fingers crossed.....would love to see how this new updated program really works...

The first title on the list will be opened if you press ENTER. To filter the results in the Library, just type in some words; it should automatically update after every keystroke.

1 & 2- Logos 4 is a CPU and RAM intensive program. Maybe if you post your system specs here, someone else with a similar configuration can compare their performance to yours.

Logos 4 runs fine on Windows 7. (We have had a couple of reports of an "error 1946" when installing the program; this is related to the desktop shortcut icon, and can be safely ignored if it happens to you.)

I am having a problem with "Copy Bible Verses" - which now has a nasty habit of shutting the 4.0 software down everytime I try to use the tool, and going to "Microsoft error reporting". This first occurred after I was experimenting changing the copy formating of the "copy bible verses" tool. It has refused to behave ever since. What a @#$% loosing that tool - of all the useful functions - please spare me that one! It serves me right for experimenting! All the other functions of Logos 4.0 seem to be operating normally (so far), apart from this.

I have contacted support, and they have suggested making sure everything is updated, and changing my preferred bible & seeing if that works but, discouragingly, the support person says she hasn't seen that problem before.

Any thoughts?

I've never heard of anyone with this problem, but I would try deleting the CopyBibleVerses document file which I presume contains those settings and see what happens, maybe you managed to corrupt it somehow? [:D]

Start by closing Logos4. If you've installed to the default path; look in /User directory/AppData/Local/Logos4/Documents/<random>/CopyBibleVerses/; move the file CopyBibleVerses.db to your desktop (rather than deleting it, just in case so you can move it back if you have to [:)]). Restart Logos4 and see if it worked...

This seems to have worked! The custom format I had been playing with has disappeared (no great loss there), and it seems the “CopyBibleVerses.db” file I had moved to the desktop has now been magically replaced in the sub-sub-subfolder string described above.

For now, “So far so good”! I am pleased to have this feature functional again.

I wonder if it is safe to delete the version I moved to the desktop?

Is logging useful for a problem where L4 does not crash, but something keeps me from freely able to use a mouse when doing anything from the Library link. I pretty much cannot use the Library to prioritize or even scroll down my resources. The mouse is not under my control. It is the only place I have found so far on my system where I am having difficulties. So my question is whether I can enable logging to report what is happening when I open the Library and start to attempt to use the functions in that link.

That's great, I'm glad it worked out... You'll be fine to delete the one of your desktop; though it might be worthwhile attaching it here first, so if one of the Logos devs swings past they can see what you did to make it crash [:)]
