New American Commentary: Hebrews (does not sync with the rest of the series)

The Hebrews commentary in the New American Commentary series (NAC) that
just became available does not syncronize with the other books in the
NAC series. By that I mean if I have a panel open with another book in
the NAC series (e.g., James) and then type in a passage from Hebrews,
the panel does not bring up the commentary on Hebrews for that passage.
Also, I note that the new Hebrews commentary for the NAC series does
not show up with the rest of the commentaries in the NAC when I view my
library according to Series. The rest of the NAC commentaries are
listed under "New American Commentary", while the Hebrews commentary is listed by itself under "The New American Commentary".
I've sent an email to Tech at Logos.com, but I wondered if there was something I could do on my end to make the Hebrews commentary sync with the rest of the NAC series.

Thanks Mark for sending an email about this. It should be a quick metadata edit (I think!)

I have also added it to the Metadata Correction Proposals page of the wiki: http://wiki.logos.com/Metadata_correction_proposals

Series Sync: I have some resources that do that and some that don't. Is this something EVERY series is expected to do in LOGOS?

Is this a required purchase or an update to the Series?

You are not required to purchase it [;)], but you will not have it, unless you do.
The purchase of most series does not include additions of future volumes. When it does, this is noted in the product description.

Perhaps I spoke too soon on the Series Sync matter. I haven't been able to find any that haven't worked the way I'd expect. The old gray stallion…

I am seeing the same thing in my Library as Mark Smith. The new Hebrews commentary is showing up in the Library by itself as belonging to The New American Commentary series as opposed to the rest of the commentaries which show as belonging to the New American Commentary series.

I just restarted both systems (to force an immediate check for metadata updates) and there were NO changes on either system! So I still have one working and one not working!

When I started Logos this morning I checked and I did not get the metadata change either. It sure is a mystery how metadata changes get propagated to our computers.

I don't have the correct Series name.

I just got off the phone with tech support, and they were able to resolve the problem for me. The solution was as follows:
1) Close Logos 4
2) Delete the file "NAC35.logos4" in the Resources folder
3) Restart Logos 4
The new NAC Hebrews commentary now shows up in the NAC series with the rest of the commentary, and syncs with them as it should.
Thanks, everyone, for your input!

Too sneaky for me. Where does one find the Resources folder?

Dave, I'm quoting you from this thread:
... the standard Resource path is:
XP -> C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Local Settings\Application Data\Logos4\Data\{random}\ResourceManager\Resources
Vista/Win7 -> C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Logos4\Data\{random}\ResourceManager\Resources
and then myself:
as for the resource path, it should be similar to this for the mac:
/Users/<user>/Library/Application Support/Logos4/Data/{random}/ResourceManager

My problem is less about syncing, and more about the commentary not shipping...How can something "ship on the 12th," when it is the 15th???

I think (allowing for time zones) that most people here received it on 12/13th. Have you tried the command update resources?

Yeah, that doesn't work...I haven't been billed yet either...though it is listed on my order page.

That brought back the Hebrews NAC but it still will not work properly when switching from one volume to the Hebrews. I have ESV, HCSB and NAC all open to John 15. I type in Heb. 11.1 and the two bibles move but the NAC doesn't even though they are all set up with Link Set A chosen on all three. Switches to Matthew, Nahum etc. but not Hebrews despite following the above instructions.

I discovered today that I now have the correct metadata for this book.
Kevin, I am not able to reproduce the linking problem you are reporting. It seems to be working fine for me. I wonder if there is some metadata that needs to be updated on your computer as it seems to have been done on mine automatically.

Just noticed that most of you are using a Windows PC to use Logos. Anyone with a Mac able to use the NAC Hebrews volume properly?

Hi Kevin,
Using L4 Mac on a late 2008 MBP. I was studying 1 John 3.16 opened the NAC for 1 John, linked it and then switch verses to Heb 11.1 and the NAC switched volumes. I did not set up all the bibles as your set up, but I do not see how that would matter.
When I first downloaded NAC Hebrews it had the wrong meta data, so I removed it from my library and let the software re-download the correct version. Perhaps you need to perform this step?

If you mean removed the file referenced above, I have done that multiple times to no avail.

Just tried again, and now it finally worked. Not sure why it was not working before, but ...
Logos, you need to fix this so that the end user will get an update automatically instead of having to delete and download. Those of us who don't mind poking around in the special folders are not hurt that much but I dare so most of your users are not such people.
BTW, if you are using Lion you cannot find the Library folder in your User folder. You have to reveal it via Terminal.
I wrote a HOWTO at Notebooks.com on how to unhide the folder.

I had a similar experience that took over a month to correct - I suddenly received a massive metadata update when I had been requesting a fix to one file!

I did the above on one system and it worked. But on my MBPro it still does not work.
Any Logos folks care to comment? Guess I will have to break down and bother Tech support.
