Problem with Smith's Bible Dictionary Font Display
Hi, on both of my PC installs of Logos 4 I see this string of boxes in the Laodicea entry in the Smith's Bible Dictionary.
Would someone else that has the Smith's please check theirs and let me know if perhaps there is an anomaly in the Smiths that I need to report to Logos?

Maybe this was originally greek. If pasted into Word 2010, this part of text claims to be in font "TransRomanAH".

Curious: Do you read this in Logos (3 or 4 - and then: what fonts do you use?) or from a paper copy?
Good thought. L3 has the same version** of Smith's as L4 yet I can read conventus which is tagged as a Latin word. So it cannot be reproduced by the Default font in L4.

Why so? Latin is written in the same characters as English (or German, if we don't go into Umlauts). Imho Logos shouldn't recognize the language tagging if it isn't capable of displaying the font correctly.Dave Hooton said:Good thought. Just to confirm I opened up the resource in L3 and looked for another Latin word: the article on Rome refers to the insulae (large city-houses), the word is tagged as Latin language and in L3 "ae" is represented as a ligature as if it was one character.
L4 has "The streets were generally narrow and winding, flanked by densely-crowded lodging-houses (insul™) of enormous height."
I think representing Latin language is a bug (probably a known bug: when I paste text from the L3 Latin Vulgate into Word, it is marked as "Latin", whereas the same text from the L4 vulgate claims to be "German"...)

Thank you all for checking this out. I just reported it as a typo in the facility in the software for typo reporting.
Thank Father that I have the original 4 volume Smith's here in hardback in my library. [:D]

Yes, I realised it was also possible that L4 was misinterpreting or misrepresenting the Latin tagging.

The issue has been fixed, but the resource was sent for a complete update, with the hope for a quick turnaround time. Unfortunately that did not materialize. The good news is that it is being worked on!
In the meantime, and it is not going to do you any good, I know, but here is a screenshot with the issue corrected:

Incidentially, I just stumbled over Smith' Dictionary today in L4 and biblia and the missing characters and was reminded of this thread from 'long ago'... Good to know that Logos is working on this!
