Each of these big conglomerations of note files are a single note duplicated like crazy by some bug in the syncing software. This is all over. My library is a mess. Hopefully tech support will figure it out
Wow--scary, hoping for the best for you.
I don't if Logos has a way to take us back to a certain date [they DO backup, right??], but I certainly hope they do--if my stuff corrupted and synced between systems I'd be quite saddened--I've spent a lot of time annotating texts--wouldn't want to lose that, but could accept reverting back a day or two in order to re-sync to a "known good" version.
Jacob:
I am sorry you are having troubles. Is it bad that I laughed really hard? [:)] I hope Logos is able to help you soon!
Have you tried the remove duplicate notes command? Did you have multiple instances of Logos open and syncing at once?
Each of these big conglomerations of note files are a single note duplicated like crazy by some bug in the syncing software. This is all over. My library is a mess.
Hopefully, you can turn off the Notes (in tri-colour icon) so they don't display in any resource?
IMHO, users should not have to do these workarounds. Logos has known for a long time about syncing issues, and they should have been resolved by now.
The longer I let it sync the more note files it makes. It's getting ridiculous.
Have you called customer support? Are you using more than one computer? If so, what is the status of the 2nd computer? Is Logos running currently on that computer?
Logos may have been running simultaneously on 2 computers and caused the problem but I'm usually pretty careful to not let that happen. I'm running the Remove Duplicate Notes tool (tech support didn't even know that tool existed) right now and tech support is sending my log files to the developers.
As others have mentioned our current solution is to run the remove duplicate notes command. In 4.5 we will have a new synchronization framework for notes which will no longer have this issue.
Todd, the Remove Duplicate Notes command works like a charm, however the computer goes right back to endless syncing and promptly reduplicates the notes.
Any help that the Logos devs could offer would be great. I can't stay working like this.
Is the answer when the notes function 'goes bad', essentially silence?
This sounds a lot like the 'old' Libronix resource download that would just download over and over, the script not being able to 'count' and give up / continue next.
I remember George loosing his book notes, and apparently just having to walk away from it.
This has already been sent to the dev team, and we'll try to figure out what's going on as soon as possible.
I wasn't posting here to complain, simply to document the problem and then as a solution occurs to have it posted and public. I should have mentioned that the Devs received logs yesterday.
Here it is 2 mod later, any word on a fix. I have L4 on MAC and PC. I mostly use L4 on MAC but on occasion will use my L4 on PC which invariably causes havoc in my notes. I get the duplicates and is jumbles the references all around in the note file (out of sequence). I use the remove Duplicate note tool command and resort them again in PC but even though I run a sync with the server, when I open my MAC L4 usually, like today, the note file has problems. Today it is duplicates and not sorted. In MAC L4 I can't sort like the PC version, so now I must get out of MAC L4, go to the PC and sort again, sync, close PC then go back to MAC hoping the note file is corrected.
agree
I couldn't agree more... [what am I agreeing to?]
I'm sorry for not updating this. There was a pretty severe problem and Logos developers ended up helping me get it all fixed. They took quite a bit of time, and as far as I can tell no data was lost.
