Favorite Android apps for tablets?

For you Android tablet owners, what are your favorite apps, especially those optimized for Honeycomb? For a good while, I've read qualified support for Android tablets, with the inevitable "but" thrown in about the relatively few number of apps compared to iOS, especially Android apps for the larger tablet screens as opposed to those for smart phones. So is the "but" becoming less of an issue?

And now I read that Android 4.0 is about to be released, which is supposed to be the cat's meow. Do I understand correctly that Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) will make Gingerbread apps more conducive to tablets, unifying Gingerbread and Honeycomb?

Thanks for your insight.

Bill I think that is quite a leap. The problem with Android is that manufacturers are the ones controlling who and when we get updates. In truth they are not motivated to provide quality updates other than to make their tablest/phone usable. They want us to buy more tablets and phones.

I think 4.0 will be great, but I doubt anyone using a current gen tablet or phone will ever see it without rooting.

The issue with Android tablet apps is that while Android Phones are very popular and selling quite well, Android tablets are not selling well at all. Even the most popular of them have only sold tens and hundreds of thousands compared to the tens of millions of iPads. All of the Android tablets in the wild combined is only a small percentage of the total tablet usage today. Until a manufacturer can learn that they can't out ipad the ipad, they will be destined for meager sales.

Amazon I believe will change all of that. But Ice Cream Sandwich will have nothing to do with it.

Hi Kevin. I can see how Amazon can become a real player in the tablet market. Still, the musings about Android 4.0 aside, I'm wondering if the qualification about the meager number of Android tablet apps is changing. If I read correctly what you've written, not only the number of apps but the quality and usefulness of iOS apps still far exceed Android apps, especially those which utilize Honeycomb.

BTW, it seems that I read somewhere that the forthcoming Asus Transformer 2 will come with 4.0.
