Any guesses as to how many hours we have until the Perseus release?
My guess is four hours!
Please don't forget that this is to be released over a number of days.
It is just too large for everyone to get everything at once.
They appear to plan on releasing it in a controlled fashion in order of who signed up first etc.
Best of luck! [:)]
Completely without any 'facts' to back me up, I'd bet 'in the evening' for the majority of downloaders (whatever off-hours are to the rental servers, and which likely have a clause for discounting during non-business hours). But that'd only conceptually work 'at the start' and apparently Perseus will be 'opened up' to customers in sequence. So, who knows.
I just finished downloading it :-) installing now...I think. Maybe its something else.
Halo, is it the real deal? I reckon that I am about 350th in line. Based on when Phil (I think) posted that 300 persons had signed up.
Just downloaded here! Confirmed it is Perseus!
Peace!
Now you guys (and gal!) (*smile*) have gotten me all excited, and I will be sitting on pins and needles for the next few hours.
I ordered (I believe!) right at the very beginning!
Much Joy in the Lord!
The software is still on their prepub page. Hopefully that means the download will be fast and soon. One gigabyte is a lot of indexing.
Did you guys get email confirmations like a normal pre pub?
No, it just came swiftly, "like a thief in the night"....
Update! I just found out from Logos that MVPs are receiving the update first as we did some preview of the resources. Sorry for the false alarm, I assume that means the official public release is due out later today. I have not heard anything that indicates otherwise and it's certainly available!
Sorry for the confusion!

Understood! You MVP's deserve lots of perks! Truly!
I'm very happy for you -- and all of you! *smile*
We are indeed releasing the floodgates of Perseus today! Keep your eyes peeled on the Logos.com homepage for a countdown...coming soon!
We have thousands upon thousands of pre-orders, and will be releasing these for download in batches, so as to not overload our servers. If you don't see your copy right away, know that you will soon have these awesome collections at your fingertips! [:)]

I believe it was about 1 GB.
Quick! My L4 says it will enter into heresy if it does not receive Perseus soon!
Ok, it was worth a try... Jus sayin' LOL
How large was the download? I believe it was about 1 GB.
1.1GB is downloading on my relatively skinny fat-pipe.
I would like to add my "sorry" as well. Your gonna love this :-)
Logos.com now says "Less than 5 hours for pre-order release"
Less than 30 minutes! Make sure you get your pre-orders in!
My compute says it will die if it does not get Perseus. Notice the death throlls are already sounding. "666"
That's interesting... I'm having the same problem....
DON'T LET IT DIE! Quick, go onto Logos.com and buy some books to resuscitate it!!!!!!
Is there any way for me to know when my turn will come to download the Perseus Collection? I placed my orders on August 12.
I guess you folks must have been slow in ordering. I got my first collection 12 minutes ago. [:)]

Not at all... I ordered within 12 hours of the original post. When you consider that Logos has about 1 million customers and that half of them must be using L4 at least that is alot of bandwith to manage. If even 100,000 people ordered Perseus at 1 gig a pop that is crazy city. I'll be impressed if I get it tonight at all (although my computer is having a fit at the delay LOL).

Like I said: slow. [:P] I believe I ordered within the first half an hour or so... [;)]
I ordered the seven collections within minutes of them becoming available. Still no DL. I'm kind of surprised, but . . . oh well.
So here I am, trying to figure out βασιλεία in the YLT's context of "Reign" vs all other translations use of Kingdom (which I find less helpful a word, for some reason) and while doing a Word Study, I see:
Humm...no Classics use. Hoping Perseus flows soon to the teeming masses. Perhaps Perseus has been abducted...or turned to stone.
On the other hand, how can "The Facade" not be considered a Classic?

Perseus Classics has many more entries:
Keep Smiling [:)]

Perseus has 1.07 GB to download for all pre-pub items (1,743 resources). Perseus has 649 Greek resources and 50 Latin resources with Logos Greek Morphology tagging. Perseus includes 264 Latin and 825 English.
Wiki => Example Collections now has Perseus examples.
Can anyone tell me if the update pushes automatically if you just leave L4 running or do you need to keep open/closing/queuing update now like normal?
I have been running like a hamster allll day with the open/close L4 routine LOL.
Thanks in advance
You can type "Update Now" (without the quotations) in the command bar instead of continuously opening and closing the program.
And if your real desperate open Favorites, type update now in the command bar, and, BEFORE HITTING ENTER, drag the "Update Now" option to Bookmark 3 in the favorites window. Now all you have to do is hit CTRL+3 to check for updates :-)
EDIT> I think "Update Resources" is what your actually after. Try that in the command bar.
The later, I think.
If I were you, I would not worry about it. It will probably take many days before it gets pushed to everyone.
I can't seem to download those Perseus titles I ordered. I checked my account and it said "ships yesterday." I've used the "update now" command and the response is that my library is up to date.
Is the likely reason I can't download it because of the phased roll-out?
Thanks [Y]
[EDIT: alabama24 answered my question at the same time I was typing this post!]

Yelp. That's probably the reason. it might take a while.
Is it just my computer or does it seem that "Update Resources" takes a lot longer than "Update Now"? It might just be my computer but I always put the blame on that it might be checking each individual resource and comparing it with the Logos server. I've just been using update now for new resources. Just curious if anyone else experiences this. [:)]
Update now checks to see what Logos headquarters might have for you.
Update Resources checks against EVERY ONE of your resources.[:(]
Use it only in an emergency for repairs![:)]

Yeah, I ordered the minute the collections became available. Still no DL. How long will the wait be for those who ordered an hour, a day, or even weeks later? Yowza!
How long will the wait be...
On the positive side of waiting (many thanks to an MVP poster in another thread), I learned how to add the "Update now" & "Update resources" commands to my favorites list, so now all I have to do is press ctrl-2 or ctrl-3 rather than typing in the command! This not only helps with waiting for Perseus but also waiting for the next Beta![:D][8-|]
I was just notified that my Perseus download is ready. I ordered within the first several hours of release. (not sure of the exact time frame).
Jonathan, how were you "notified"? By email or by updating L4? I too ordered within hours of post (about 12 hours). Just curious
Everything was exactly like a normal pre-pub. I received a pre-pub email that said "This is to inform you that your recent Pre-Pub order of Perseus Classics Collection (1,114 vols.) is now ready to be downloaded. Your credit card has been charged. Please print a copy of this invoice for your records." It then gave instructions for how to download the resource.
I haven't received all the files yet. But they are going in the order they were received. I deliberately ordered the classics collection first, and the classics collection is the first item I have received. Hopefully the rest will come in the next few hours/days.
By the way... I think I was inside of the four-five hour mark. I know I ordered sometime before 5 p.m. CST.

I also got the same notice.
*smile* I am indeed a "happy camper"!
Just looked at "The Anabasis" by Xenophon! Absolutely thrilled. I don't even know where my hard dead tree book even is! Remember translating "The Anabasis" more than 50 years ago! Have to be away for a few days at Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in Western Canada and hope to use Biblia.com at my son's home!
*smile*
Thank you again, Logos, very much indeed!

It seems that Logos must release these pretty slowly in order to be able to use their servers for other products and requirements. Even doing that they are probably maxing out what they can deliver. We are talking large downloads, not the typical single book or small collection. I am sure Logos recorded orders in the order they were received and are processing them that way. The relative silence about the Perseus collection on the Forums might be because so few have received them so far (or else they are lost in reading and organizing them.)
It is easy for me to counsel patience as I already have Perseus, but I noticed a very long gap on Saturday between ordering a single book and being able to download it, so I suspect the servers are doing as much as they can.
Now, Mark ... just one MORE reason L3 is SO GOOD. I bought a resource last night, downloaded and began reading all within 60 seconds.
I know, I know ... L4 has a few extra benefits!
I have received the Civil War collection on Sept. 30 and the Classics Collection about an hour ago.
Still have five left to download, I will be patient, my Acer Netbook can only go so fast.
Be Happy I havent even recieved one yet
