Which software on iPad?
Here's a basic question that may be obvious to others but not to me. I use Logos on a PC and am considering buying an iPad. Will my PC version of Logos work on the iPad or do I have to have the Apple version of Logos?

David, neither will work. On the Ipad and Iphone, you need to to have the logos APP which is also free.

David, Rev. Kelly is right on, but think of it like this:
When you purchase Logos, you are buying content, not the engine. The engine is always free. There are engines for PC, Mac, iPhone/iPod Touch, iPad, Android (beta), and BlackBerry (beta?). The engines sync with the content in the cloud, giving you "universal" access to the content and your additional information (notes, reading, bookmarks, etc.).
So, should you get an iPad (which, FWIW, I would recommend), you can pull the (free) iPad app from the Apple App Store and it will sync with your Logos account to give you access to the content you own.0 -

To expand upon Pastor Kelly's comments, the mobile devices (iOS or Andriod) use the Logos mobile app. This should NOT be confused with Logos 4. You can learn more about the app HERE and HERE. You should be aware that many resources are available on the mobile platforms, but not all. This is because the publishers have to grant Logos permission for us to use our resource license in this way.

You can download the Logos iPad app but need to be aware that it is still not very good. It's nice that I can download my Logos content to the iPad. However, search functionality is very rudimentary and there are other free Bible search programs that have much greater functionality than the current Logos app. For example, in a Bible search, I can't narrow my search to just the NT.
I understand that they are working on improving the app but get the feeling that they have spread themselves a bit too thin between the PC/Mac/iOS/Android markets. So it may take them a while... much longer than we would all like.
Currently, while I have the Logos app installed on my iPad, I rarely use because the competitive apps are much better.0 -
As far as Logos spreading themselves too thin this accusation has been thrown around without substantiation and is entirely untrue. Each platform has it's own development team so resources are never taken from one place to serve another. This has been addressed by Logos many times but the statement keeps getting put out there with no fact checking beforehand.

Logos has many career openings => http://www.logos.com/about/careers including software development.
Currently all Logos development teams are collaborating on Sync v2 framework; looking forward to smooth sync of various items (e.g. Notes, Highlighting, ...) across platforms. Data replication has potential for disaster; hence appreciate private testing by Logos plus looking forward to smooth transition.
Keep Smiling [:)]

I wouldn't agree that the competing apps are "much better". I think Logos has done a really good job in a short time creating a great iPhone/iPad application that integrates well with their library. I find the navigation a bit cumbersome at times but simply having my whole library available on my iPhone is an amazing achievement.
