Ipad for Preaching and Teaching

I recently got an Ipad to use in my preaching and teaching. I was initially discouraged that there was not an alt/tab function to switch between applications (i.e. class/sermon notes and Logos app).  With the release of IOS 5 there is now an easy way to use your notes and Logos app in preaching and teaching.

First, you need to make sure that the apps that you are intending to use are already open.  In my case this means Goodreader and Logos.

Swipe up with four fingers from any screen to reveal the multitasking bar (this was a little uncomfortable at first, but I have been just using the back of my fingers which feels more natural).  I will open my notes in Goodreader first since I like to have my notes on my left.  Next, make the same up-swipe to open your Logos app.  Now you have two apps open side-by-side.  Using the four finger swipe you can move left and right across the screen between your notes and Bible.

I hope this is as useful to some as it has been to me.

Very useful, but only available on iPad2, not iPad1 [:(]

Hmmm... [open iOS5 reminder feature... note to self...need to see if any refurbed iPad2's available...]

In this configuration can scriptures in the notes be hyperlinked to the Bible in Logos? Right now I use a different Bible program for this one thing that allows for hyperlinking in the notes. However, the notes have no formatting.

My hyperlinks don't open in the Logos app.  In fact, my scripture references only create active hyperlinks on the numbers.  When you click on that link it treats it as if you are trying to add something to your calendar???

I tried opening a link from a pdf and docx file in Goodreader as well as opening a regular docx file from my dropbox account with no luck.

This would be more effort than I would be willing to put into my private notes, but I wonder if reftagger works in the Ipad?

I don't have any trouble turning quickly to a passage (especially when I'm being considerate of others who are turning with me), but when I am trying to make some rapid-fire points I like to save my verses in favorites and just go from there.

    Hope this helps.
