Syncronization - Mac iPad
I have an ipad and mac combination. I know others have complained about reading plans not syncronizing... for me it is reading and favorites that hav now completely stopped.
I also noticed they have some changed in progress for the mac that will allow "more" items to sync...I am not sure if for over a year; stability has not come to the sync; how will spending effort on new "enhanced" functionality be any better. I and others have been really really really patient with the team to correct these issues. At this point I have to question if the managers setting priorities are doing so properly.... if there is no good estimate of a bug fix release I would say yes. I could very well not have all the information.. and could be making a wrong assessment... If I am please correct my viewpoint.
I think the team is working hard in trying to move things ahead an have good talent... I would question the leadership of the team (on a core outstaning year or more long open issue) in understanding its user base and how the product is being used and perceived.
Feedback please and hopefully I am wrong in my assessment...

The primary new feature of Logos 4.5 is what Logos has called "Sync v2." Yes, it will bring notes & highlighting to the mobile platforms, but more importantly, it is supposed to rework how the sync itself functions. If you knew that you were going to be getting a new car soon, would you spend a bunch of money on a new transmission if you were getting by? Likewise, Logos is working hard to bring us a new sync infrastructure which will work better and bring us new functionality.

What is soon? It has been broken about a year...Given that same logic if a new release has problems I guess I wait for v3... It is probably the right direction...maybe just badly set expectations with folks like myself..which could very well be a minority...
That being said...I also realize that mobile has not really been Logos strength in the market and not why I use the product. I have other options for mobile, it just makes me double up purchases etc. From a desktop perspective Logos definately has a great edge...so I commend them for that.. I also think the Mac version has come a long way...

Randy - I am not a programmer, nor do I play one on TV. I could be way off base, but here is how I look at it. If the current sync structure is not capable or efficient to accomplish what Logos and its users want, why spend much time fixing it? Even if its been a year? I have no idea what "most users" want, but I can tell you that as much as I would like reading plans and favorites to sync with my iPad, these features would be pretty useless to me without notes and highlighting. I, for one, am glad they are moving forward in this direction. Of course, those features will be pretty useless as well if they don't sync. Here's hoping "sync v2" is all its cracked up to be. [;)]

I am a product manager for enterprise systems and I can not think a single client that has been as patient with me as I have been with LOGOS... obviously the reading plan is "useless" to you unless you get notes etc. so the reading plan issues you shouldn't even comment on as you haven't even been trying to use them...
I am looking for LOGOS (not folks spinning the issue) to reply with something tangible... at least to what quarter something "might"t be release... trying to help out LOGOs with a "spin" doesn't help and only hurts. I don't' think I am the first one that has wanted a status update on 'bug" that is occurring in stated functionality.
I won't respond further to this thread as it isn't worth my time..

I try to help people when and where I can. Even if I don't have these concerns at the present time, I would hope that someone would help me out in the future.

Perhaps if you were a bit more gracious, you would find your clients more patient with you.

I came to this board to get some answers of when the synchronization which has been crippled a long time might be working. Instead I leave this board with a personal attack. The problem is the advertised functionality not working... not me asking direct questions about it...

Randy,
What sync problems have you been having for a year? Quirks have existed for a while, but it has more or less worked until a few weeks ago when most users began reporting problems.
That said, I do sympathize with your frustration. It is aggravating to begin using a product in daily practice, expecting to be able to keep using it, then have it stop working. Once Logos gets this straightened out, I'll need to know that it is actually straightened out, not something that will break again in a few months, once more disrupting a new routine.

... we are making significant changes to favorites in an upcoming version.

It's just too difficult to predict dates, and things are always changing.
Things we can tell you:
- Proclaim is going into public beta October 11th, so we're shipping things that support that. (This mobile app update has support to follow Proclaim presentations.)
- The next priority is "sync v2" which enables smarter, faster, more robust annotation and highlighting, and treats highlights as notes without note text. We have to ship this on the desktop in order to deliver it to mobile, but we're working on it in parallel with Proclaim and it's not far off. We know that mobile notes and highlighting are high on everyone's list. It's taken a while, but I'm confident that once it's delivered you'll agree it's the most robust, most powerful notes and highlighting available for any mobile e-reader.
Proclaim public beta was released earlier this month; Proclaim - Church Presentation Software forum has many posts daily.

Logos 4.5 Beta release 2 is available for Mac and PC; wiki => Logos 4 Beta Program (also aware of several buggy crashes that are actively being fixed for upcoming Beta releases). Apologies: as a Logos user with Many Volunteer Posts (MVP), not know when sync v2 will be ready for mobile deployment.
By the way, Logos has had several developer positions open for a long time => http://www.logos.com/about/careers (many career positions require relocation to Bellingham, WA)
Keep Smiling [:)]
