categories in library?

I have a category called "uncategorized" that was create with the rule rating:<=5 and by dragging each of the other categories into the -these categories pane. All resources as soon as I get them I give a rating of 1 star. I now realize I may have a dilema. I have created many categories and categorized much of my library but still have many in the "uncategorized" category. I can't see any way to categorize anything in this category except to search for each individual title in the library and assign it a category one by one. I was going to just have the library display only the category "uncategorized" and then realized this is not possible.

Bottom line: I have every resource in my library rated 1 star and a bunch of uncategorized books that I'd like to categorize quickly and easily (more than just one at a time). Does anyone have a suggestion that might help me?

Sort your Library by selecting the type column. Now you see the values you can filter content by using the type command in the text box e.g.

type:commentary
type:encyclopedia
type:notes
type:dictionary
type:harmony

Then you can select multiple resources and give them the same rating and/or tag value (My Tags) in order to "categorize" them and make them easily selectable for a Collection.

My extremely strong recommendation is to use tagging. There is a thread back in February that you might find interesting. In it I posted some material on using tags. My entire library (now well over 3000 active resources) is completely tagged. With that task completed and maintained I can do my study, especially exegetical work, very quickly. Personally I would never use rating to "categorize" resources. Ratings should refer to your perceived QUALITY of a resource not to designate the contents of a resource. At the moment Logos is not sorting resources in search results by rating. Hopefully this will be implemented, so that the resources we perceive as best are presented to us first in our search results.

Likewise! My comment was ambiguous but I was focusing on what could be done with a number of resources at a time. If I categorize a commentary as a "Note" I will rate it as a "Note" along with type:"Bible Notes" ( e.g. 3 vs 1 as a commentary).

Thank you for the advice. I'm going to go in and tag all my resources that I have categorized using the ideas above and then I will be able to mark all the other ones "uncategorized". Thanks again!
