I like to read the different books in Logos, but sometimes I need to mark where I'm reading, so that when I come back to the book I can open to where I'm reading. How do I do this?

Susan - you can create bookmarks, but you don't need to. When you reopen the book, it will open to where you left off.

Sometimes others might move their position in a book, and when they reopen the book it does not open to where they were reading. As L4 just opens to their last location in the book (i.e. not necessarily where they were reading)

Steve - Presumably they don't move their position randomly, but to read in another location... but yes, bookmarks do have good uses. In my opinion, if you are just reading a book cover-to-cover, you don't really need to worry about it. Do you agree, or is there something I am missing?
i was not trying to be overly critical (sorry for my poor choice in brevity of words). But by her post count being low, i think it is wise to show newer user the designed way to save a bookmark (also make them aware of our wiki pages). And thirdly make them aware of your point on how L4 works when closing an open book and reopening that book.
EDIT: she noted that she read different books, this could be a Bible and it is not uncommon to move about in a Bible and wishing to return to her daily reading.
Option: use a saved layout. Personally have some Reading layouts; can open several resources to last place read. When done reading, update layout (ready for next reading session). Wiki Getting Started with Logos => Layouts

That's another good idea, however, you must remember to save the layout each time. Otherwise, the book will open to where it was when you last saved/created the layout. Perhaps that is what Susan was doing to be worried about where her book left off. Or not. [:)]

Another way that i bookmark some books (especially Bibles where i have more than one place that i study) is to use Highlighting. i have created a Highlight style for Start as shown below (i also created this under a new pallet). Then i add the highlight to where i am at in that Bible. Then when i open that book i can use the Locator bar to help me navigate to that highlight.

If you use a special pallet then you can use Visual Filters menu to turn Off the other highlighting which allows you to more easily navigate to these markers using the Locator bar.
Thanks for all the replies. I knew that the books usually re-opened to the place you left off reading, but I was not sure they always came back to the same place when you had not used it in a good while. I like the different suggestions and will try them.

The location information is stored "in the cloud" and is generally very reliable. If you were to open your resource on another of your computers, you would notice that it opens to the same location you left off at on the other computer as well.
