Library function locking
Today I noticed that my normal "Available Offline" books were no loner available off line on my iPod. When I went to make them available offline again the library function froze on that book. I can now no longer access my library?
How can I access my library again?

Did you update to iOS 5 recently? Unfortunately, the move to iOS 5 deletes all offline books, and they will have to be redownloaded. Have you done a hard shut down of the app? What about a reinstall?

Yes. I have updated to iOS 5. I deleted the app from my computer (Mac) and then reinstalled it and got the same effect. What is a "hard shut down"?

Why did you delete it from your Mac? You needed to delete it from your iPod!

In iOS, apps don't normally turn off - they are put into "hibernation." I don't have a newer iPod touch. On the iPad, when you double tap the center button, the multitask bar shows up. You can turn off apps that way by clicking on the minus button that appears.
