Which iPad for Logos?

Hi there, I'm considering buying an iPad (obviously), but I'm not to sure if the 16 GB version is "big" enough. How much space does Logos require on the iPad (I've got the Leader's Library plus some extra goodies)? Can I choose which resources are synced with my iMac or is it always the full monty? Cheers!

The mobile apps are designed to be run "from the cloud." The app itself is fairly small. If you are in an area where internet is scarce, you can download resources. Currently, however, this is done individually (i.e. one at a time).

I am unsure what you are asking. The resources are supposed to be synced across all platforms. When you open a book on your iMac and later open it on your iPad, it should open to the same location. I will let you know, however, that there is a current sync problem between the desktop and mobile apps. Logos is currently working on a new version of its desktop app (4.5) which is in Beta now. The prime feature is a new sync infrastructure which will allow a "more robust" sync and bring highlighting and notes to the mobile platform.

I would get whatever you can afford. I have a small budget, so I went with the 16 GB, and I am perfectly happy with what I have so far. I have some essentials like my Bibles, BDAG, TDNT, Synopsis of the four Gospels and OT Parallels, a few others, and the book I am reading at the time and that's it. With my 300 songs, a movie always ready to go to entertain the kids in an emergency, my favorite pictures, and tons of pdfs in Goodreader I still have not even used half of my space yet. If I could afford a bigger one and put more on it I would.

Looking at http://www.logos.com/mac/support/systemrequirements noticed Leader's Library: 4.68 GB (caveat: due to publisher restrictions, some Logos resources are not available for use on mobile devices, notable NIV Bible). Hence, 16 GB can have Leader's Library resources downloaded for offline use and have ~ 10 GB free for other stuff.

Apple has refurbished iPad's => http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/specialdeals/ipad (e.g. 1st generation Wifi 64 GB is $ 399 while 2nd generation 16 GB iPad 2 is $ 449). Have noticed Microcenter offering $ 50 off new iPad 2's for few days at a time.

I bought a 64 gig IPad 1 about a month after the iPad 2 came out. I got the 64 wifi because I felt that I could afford it. With some 250 apps on mine, about 40 books on the logos app, 1000 hymns, 13 full length movies, 4 gig of photos that I have shot, over 100 podcasts, several sermons... I still have about 15 gig free. So I did not need the 64, but wanted more than 32... The only regret that I have had is that I did not get the 3G model. Not that I would have used the intent part a lot, but I could have turned it on for less than it would cost me now using the mifi at $50/month. Get as big as you can and consider the 3G unless you are always in a wifi area... I Am not here.

I have the 1 Gen 3G and enjoy it. I only turn on the 3G when I am traveling, but it is very handy. It also can function (with an inexpensive app) as a turn by turn GPS.

yes, for travel is exactly why I now would like to have gotten the 3g... but I wont go out an buy another! LOL instead I bought the mifi for travel.

Get the biggest one you can! The 3G is nice, it's easy to use a data limit. Also you choose which to download for offline use. Keep in mind some features require Internet connection.

The iPad is a wonderful tool, once we get notes & highlights, Logos on the iPad will be my primary Bible app. For some the glass screen produces a strong glare, you can get a matte screen protector. Second if you get a new one, spend the extra money and get the Apple Care Protection Plan! It's totally worth it.

Sorry, but I couldn't disagree more. The best options is SquareTrade which is cheeper and offers more coverage and you get your money when making a claim very fast. I'm not associated with the company but have recently done research into various insurance for apple iOS devices and think this is the best.
