Question: Andersen Forbes Phrase Marker Analysis ( v.95)

Anyone know if there is any expected completion date for this great resource? Also, I have seen there is a Word Tree in SESB (?) which I don't have and don't think I need 90% of what is offered there (ie- in the package). What is the least expensive way of getting the benefits of this resource within logos?

Are there any other resources like this for the Hebrew?

version 0.95 was added in August 2010, so progress is still happening. When L4 first came out it used version 0.90.

The SESB Hebrew Syntax database is not compatible with Logos 4. It still needs to be used with Libronix. The SESB has announced that they are releasing next year an update that will make that syntax database compatible with the latest version of Logos. You might want to wait until that package is released to make a purchase decision.

I do not think this is correct - the latest version in Logos is 0.90. I know the A-F web site says Logos 4.3 has 0.95 in it, but the latest version on their ftp site and in 4.,3 is 0.90. Maybe Logos has it but is doing some work on it? Maybe someone from Logos will respond but I see no evidence 0.95 has been released to Logos users yet.

In my Logos library the info panel says version .90, however the title page in the books says .95 (Aug. 2010). Hmm. Maybe it is a metadata issue?

This is what I have, I didn't check the Title Page. In either case I suspect we have the right version. I wonder if anyone knows a change that went into 0.95 we could test it. I didn't see any change control on the A-F web site...

Roughly 1000 changes were made in advancing from v0.9 to v0.95. The title page designation discloses the actual version, but if you seek one change to seal the diagnosis, hover over the verb in the final clause of Exod 16:20 ("he was angry"). In v0.9, it was called a stative; in v09.5, it is called a "verb of attitude."

Frank Andersen and I have been at work on v1.0 for quite some time. We have greatly improved the text type assignments (a weak aspect of our data, alas) and are making many corrections and improvements elsewhere. We had always planned for release 1.0 to include the "full representation" wherein both a grammatical function and a semantic role would be given for each CIC (where relevant). We are at work on this at present. A great deal of coding and checking remains to be done.

In addition, we are nearly finished with the first pass through the proofs of our book ("Biblical Hebrew Grammar Visualized"). Absent mishaps, the book should be available from Eisenbrauns by year's end.

This is very interesting! I am not sure I am clear and maybe others are somewhat confused:

Does 'Hebrew Grammar Visualized' replace A-F Phrase-Marker Analysis in functionality in our Logos system, once it comes out, i.e. is it truly A-F PMA 1.0 or is it something else?

I realize the old resource may still be there, but will it show up as an option in the drop down box for the source of a Syntax Search (this may require a minor update to Logos software, I guess I am asking is this the plan)?

It is a full explanation on how the database was built and the methodology of the syntactic tagging. In my experience you cannot efficiently search AF without reading this book.
