Dear Bob Pritchett, may I (also) have a moment of your time?

Just wanted to say that having seen Logos from the inside (as an employee) and outside (as a consumer), I daily become more and more impressed with your leadership of Logos. As a entrepreneur-wannabe, watching Logos push and grow into new platforms and markets over the last several years has been thoroughly educational and nothing short of inspiring. You have built an amazing company with amazing products. Thank you for not being satisfied to simply be a windows-only, one product, company. What you and your team do day-in and day-out helps me and others in ways you may never even know.

--Now, fellow users (happy and un) perhaps we can use this thread for happy and positive comments. There are plenty of threads out there for us to voice frustrations or our "I want you to..." lists. But, how about an entire thread where we let Bob and the Logos crew know some of the things we're happy about and thankful for? As one in pastoral ministry, I know what it is like to have people bring their list of "why don't you...". The occasional "Thanks for doing..." goes a long way.

My list of "I'm grateful for..." would go long if I let it. But I'm grateful that I have been able to amass a quite respectable library in Logos, and I get to carry it with me. In just a few days I leave for a fifth-world country, Since we should have a generator I'm taking thousands of books with me in an eight pound notebook computer. Without Logos I'd have to sort, select and carry the two or three books I knew for certain I would need to accomplish my tasks there.

I'm grateful that My sermon prep time is made deeper by tools that enable me to spend time studying instead of finding.

I'm grateful that in my own personal dealings with the company, every individual I've dealt with has reflected as much as possible the person of Christ.

I use a Mac (primary laptop), Windows PC (video editing/photography system), iPad (note taking, task management, etc) and Android Phone. I love that Logos doesn't treat each platform like a separate product, but instead gives me one seamless license that allows me to float between my systems naturally. Granted there's room to grow in delivering greater feature parity between the applications, but this isn't a weakness unique to Logos. Anyone try going back and forth between Office on Windows and Office on Mac... it's pretty frustrating at times. The fact of the matter is that the license model for the books as negotiated by Logos is brilliant!

I would like to thank you for making Logos available on the Android platform. Even in its beta stage it has been very helpful to me. As a busy pastor it has been very helpful to have my books in such a convenient platform. I use it everyday to feed my own soul and to also better equip me to minister to the soul's of others.

I would also like to say that I appreciate the sales that Logos has. Right now you are celebrating Pastor's appreciation month with a different sale every day of the week. Some people may complain about what is being offered but I appreciate the fact that it is being offered even if I don't make a single purchase.

Last year I purchased the 2010 Master Collection. I received 2010 books for 2010 dollars. Wow! I could not have gone into any book store in America and got that kind of deal much less walk out with all the books (with a lot of help and a U-Haul truck) on a honor system of paying for them with twelve monthly payments.

I have found your customer service to be awesome. It is great to be able to call Logos and have a phone answered by a "real living person" and not some automated machine, or have the phone answered by some telemarketer in India that can't understand me or worse yet that I can't understand.

These are just a few of the things that I appreciate about Logos. Right now is pastor appreciation month. Perhaps the forum users could create a Logos appreciation month in which we designate an entire thread to thanking Logos employees for their excellent services. I could say more but I will leave some things to be said by others.

I thank God for giving me a ministry team in the form of Logos software, it's employees, and it's forum users to help me more effectively work in His vineyard. I pray His continued blessings upon each one of you.

I'm grateful for that as well! I was recently flying as a passenger in an MAF Cessna over the Congolese jungle out in the middle of nowhere... how did I pass the time?...reading up on some stuff in my Logos library. In fact, there was a theological discussion that we were having while in Kinshasa, and I didn't have to wish I had my library with me because I did! We did some research and settled the issue. There's something spectacular about having 3000+ books with me anywhere in the world on my 3 pound macbook air.

In fact, I'm getting sold enough on ebooks in general (Kindle, PDF and Logos) that I've given away all my physical commentaries and bible dictionaries (including a complete set of the IVP dictionaries) to a seminary student that works in our Highschool group. I'm also about to give him some of my physical systematic theologies. He's thankful to Logos for that!

Logos 4 has revolutionized my study of God's Word. As Thomas Black already mentioned, it gives me time to study as opposed to finding. It has helped me in getting answers to questions that are asked or that come up in ministry that I have never thought of before. It has given me a much broader perspective of other viewpoints on doctrine and has helped me thus to form deeper convictions on what I hold to be true.

It would be hard to state just how much Logos has helped me with both my preaching and devotional life. It has given me access to resources I would have otherwise never even known about, it has made reading and studying them both simple and a joy, and it has provided many powerful methods of studying the Bible, methods I never would have even considered without the software.

Not many days go by that I don't fire it up at least once. My life would certainly be quite a bit different, and more difficult, without the software.

Thanks for this positive thread.

Logos has without a doubt become my most valuable tool for ministry. Words cannot express the tremendous benefit of Logos in my life. It has made available to a theological library that I never thought I could have. That is the most important thing about Logos to me. That is of infinite value.

Logos has also enhanced my use of Greek and Hebrew texts. Having lexicons and language tools just a click away, rather than pulling them off the shelves saves a tremendous amount of time. I am able to use that time studying and meditating the meaning of scripture rather than in doing the mechanics of opening books and turning pages. That amounts to a considerable amount of time.

Then just being able to search thousands of books in a few seconds is invaluable. Every reference Wesley or Spurgeon or Luther made about prayer is just a click away.

Finally, the Logos iPad app makes all my Logos library infinitely more valuable. It is not natural to read an extended portion from a computer screen, but the iPad is as good (for me) as reading a paper book. So Logos books by Martyn Lloyd-Jones or N. T. Wright are much more valuable. Until the iPad, I was only interested in reference books - commentaries and language tools) from Logos. Now any Logos book that is available on the iPad app is desirable. And the iPad app is free. What a gift!

Bob, I've spent this month in Germany. I brought my small Greek Testament with me, but left my Hebrew Bible, paper edition, at home, as I had it on Logos. I appreciate having all resources at my fingertips on laptop, enough to do meaningful Bible study on Logos app on iPad, and lots of good reading on Vyrso. I've put a couple of resources on to Kindle as well, tho being lazy I use Kindle more for non-logos resources. Logos is mostly not cheap (tho many thanks for Perseus, which is cheap to us tho probably not to Logos). I use Logos daily and Vyrso mostly at least 2 or 3 hours a day, specially when travelling.

Your staff have often gone far beyond he call of duty to help me. That also reflects on you!

This program has added tremendously to my Bible study in many areas, from history to language study to theology. The Perseus collection was an unexpected as well as great gift and blessing. Through your hard work and diligence you have given me (and through teaching, therefore, my family and fellow church members) access to works I would quite possibly never have known existed (CP) as well as made accessible works that are normally outside my price range (through payment plans). As a pastor/missionary, I had accumulated perhaps a 10,000 volume library that was indispensable to my preaching/teaching ministry. Then through a personal tragedy, I lost all but perhaps 12 volumes of my print library. It was a devastating loss to me personally and to my ministry. I am not saying that I relied upon my library like an idol, but it represented a truly significant loss that altered forever the course of my ministry. Many of the volumes were irreplaceable, or had been gifts sacrificially given by long gone family, mentors or friends, and therefore treasured. Others were gathered from all around the world, or searched for over any years through bookstores or the Internet for research purposes. I shed many tears over the loss.

Fortunately, as a very early Logos customer, i had slowly been amassing a Logos library in electronic format. After the loss, I slowly began rebuilding my library. It has taken a long time, but certain sections are actually filling out and are nearly complete. While certain areas have huge holes still (such as archaeology and biblical history), I can not tell you what a comfort it is to know that as I travel the world as a missionary, I don't need to fear the loss of my investment in my library, thanks to Logos' vision. I have been able to slowly rebuild my educational ministry with titles that are available to me wherever I go on any platform. Your generosity with specials and programs such as community pricing, pre-pubs etc have enabled me to build a respectable library once again that is once again greatly benefiting my ministry and my personal growth. As one who grows spiritually primarily through the spiritual discipline of study, you have blessed my relationship with God immensely. And I concur that every contact I have had with Logos staff has been infused with grace, courtesy and professionalism... even at the times I was grousing about something. You have built an exemplary company and an exemplary product... and even when we say we want this or that... please understand that at the basis of such requests is our deep appreciation for what you have achieved, the product you have created, your vision and your Christian character.

Having read through the thread and nodding repeatedly at each new mention of a feature or weightlessness of thousands of resources, it occurs to me that what we're all thankful for is that Logos truly does (marketing hype aside) "Re-invent Bible Study". Although many of us are book lovers (I mean the pulp-wood variety: the heft, the smell, the delight of turning a page, the binding... everything), most of us have transitioned to Logos almost exclusively. Its efficient, its faster than old fashioned study, its EFFECTIVE.

Thankful awesome Logos Bible Software is free (with frequent updates that often fix bugs and improve features), appreciate resource licensing change in 2009 along with Wiki, Topics, and Forum community web sites (virtual friendships in many places around the world).

Likewise Thankful for interaction with Logos employees, including an email follow-up with message: Be Smart and Get Things Done (now part of my daily prayers, one item God is using to positively change me along with Bible Study and forum interactions).

Immensely Thankful to look at highlighted Greek New Testament (with visual highlights in English Reverse Interlinear) that show grammatical usage. Visually can see pattern of author's verbal usage plus ponder reflexive nature of middle voice (e.g. Eph 1:4, 9, Php 4:8,9).

Nobody gave (gift) me Logos! I have invested over $25,000 into the software. There is an expectation when a "for profit" company offers a service for a fee -- RESULTS.

Clearly the title of this thread is trying to spoof/lessen the original poster who initiated the "Dear Bob..." post, taking issue with performance.

If we ignore the fact the basic search engine is without cost, A user can experience the full range of features and a whole new level of Bile study with just the Scholar's Library base package for $629. The other $24,000+ is just resources (& more resources)

The base package comparison chart shows the Scholar's Library has all the content of the higher packages in most reference books, interlinears, ministry helps and all the program's features. You will only go for the highest packages if you want many commentaries and theologies. If you like archeology, historical theology and scholarly works, you end up addicted and amass $5K, $10K, $20K, $50K ....$?K

Remember, rich people are called "eccentric" when they display obsessive compulsive tendencies. The rest of us are called "crazy." [:P]

added: Oh yeah, If you are a student and you are content to just study the text without need for ministry helps and reading what other guys say the text says (generally called "commentaries") you can get by with the Original Languages base package for $416. (Even less if you qualify for Academic discounts.)

His irresistible grace has so overwhelmed me, to know that he not only died on the Cross for me, but he also died on the Cross because of me.

I am not a scholar by any means, but I do love Bible study. And, I do like using Logos for my Bible study.

Shocker...

But, I want Logos to keep getting better, faster, deeper, etc...

I believe Logos will, and that is why I keep investing into their platform.
