How do you log off the Logos iPhone app
I just loaded the iPhone Logos app but can't see where to logoff the app at. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Hi Bob,
To close the app simply press the Home button on your iPhone.
To Log out of your account, well you used to be able to do it from the More menu at bottom, but that option doesn't seem to be there any longer.... good question, I don't normally log off, i have a pass code set on my phone....can see it would be a problem if two different people using a share device, say iPad, and had different accounts...

It used to be that when you logged out. the app would discard all downloaded resources. Remember the license is linked to your login, and from recent comments about how Logos stores files in iOS, they are currently in a "cache" area. They did not survive the iOS 4.x to 5.0 upgrade.

Bob - FIrst, welcome to the forums!
The question I would ask of you is why would you want/need to log off the app? An iPhone is designed for one user. Logos is designed for one user. I fail to see why anyone would need to log off!
If there is someone else in your family with a logos account, they can use biblia.com on your iPhone.

I understand this is a free app and it's a blessing to have it.
The choice to do so is one reason.
What if you have only one iPhone and a spouse would like to have access. Shouldn't have to go elsewhere.
While logged in, how much resources is it using against the battery time?
Blessings,
-Bob

Thanks for the info. I was looking to purchase one of the library packages. Is the purchased packages access based on your login account to the license as well?

Bob - I am confused by your posts, but I will try to answer as best as I understand your questions. First, there is no way to "log out" of the mobile apps. It is designed for "one user." This is true for the desktop application as well. If you are using a computer with multiple user accounts, you can add Logos to each of those accounts, however, the only reason to do so is if you create a separate Logos account with separate purchases. Logos does allow a husband and wife to share resources (they are viewed as "one user" as long as one spouse is not in vocational ministry) but you should be aware that it is still designed for "one user." All highlights, notes, settings, etc will be shared by both users. The only way around this is to purchase another base package.
I think that you were also asking if purchases for the desktop work on the mobile app. The answer is yes, although not all publishers have granted users the right to view the resources on the mobile devices. If you view a resource product description page on the logos website, it will show an iPhone icon to let you know that the resource is available on mobile devices.
If I didn't explain that well or if you have other questions, feel free to ask again!

There is one other option that I didn't think of. You can download both the Vyrso and Logos apps. Your wife could use one, and you could use the other. Here are some scenarios:
- If your wife is not interested in ANY of your Logos resources, but would like to purchase Vyrso books that you would NOT be interested in (i.e. Amish romance novels), she can create her own Logos/Vyrso account and use that info on the Vyrso app.
- If your wife would want access to ANY of your Logos resources, (i.e. Bibles), you should use only one Logos account. She could use the Vyrso app and you could use the Logos app. Note: any highlighting or notes (not currently an option, but will be with the next major release) would be shared with both users.

Of course...that explains why its not there anymore thanks Jim

First, I am thankful your company allows the product to be used on spouses computers. Though being less than enthralled with the demeanor presentation style at AACC and your videos, the license swayed me to select on your product over the competitors. Before purchasing the product, my wife and I had separate Logos accounts to evaluate the product. After spending over $300, you can imagine the elevation of my disappointment with Logos when I too encountered the iPhone/iPad issue.
To answer the original poster's question, here is a method to change the iPhone/iPad sign-on information:
- Use a web browser to change the password on the account your iPhone/iPad is using.
- Start the Logos iPhone/iPad application. You will be prompted enter new sign-on credentials
As a software engineer, I suggest you change your authentication database to add an additional field to the user's records: spouse email address. Then the spouse can have a "separate" account for bookmarks, etc and yet have the privileges of spouse who purchased the product.

I am unsure which issue you are talking about. Can you be more specific?

I am unsure what this would accomplish. Logos is designed for "one user," and only "one user." Thankfully Logos allows for "one user" to include a spouse, as has been mentioned before, but with limitations. Since the software is for "one user," there cannot be a "'separate' account for bookmarks, etc" or else it would be "two users." If you choose to share your account with your spouse, you must be aware of this limitation.

I didn't catch this before, or understand what you meant until now (I think [:)]). Are you asking how much battery does the app use when Logged in but not being used? As Mike replied, "none." The state of being "logged in" is one of being credentialed. It does NOT mean that the app is frantically using the internet to maintain a connection. Also, you should be aware that all programs on iOS work in a sort of "hibernation" when not active (open). This allows for quicker loading of apps.

Thanks Eric - great solution!

I found an alternative way to log off your account on the iPad or iPhone: simply remove Logos and re-install it via the App Store! It doesn't take long.

The only drawback to this approach is that you will lose any resources that you have downloaded for offline use.

You are correct that deleting the app will cause you to lose your downloaded resources… however, it is the only way to sign in to another account on the Logos app. Another solution is to install one of the other Logos apps for the other user:
- Logos App (called Bible!)
- Vyrso
- Faithlife

If you change your login on logos you would want to log out of the app on the iPad to be able to log back in with your updated username. if you don't do this your reading lists won't update properly.

Hi Timothy! Welcome to the forums. [:)]
There isn't really a reason to log out of the app… but you are right that there is a reason to need the ability to update your credentials. If there were a "log out" feature, all of the downloaded resources would be removed by necessity during that process.

One reason to "log out" of Logos is when someone buys an iPad used. I have a colleague who bought a used iPad with the Logos app installed, the old user ID is there and he is using that old users books. He would like to log out of that account and back in with his own ID. As far as I can tell, he will have to delete the Logos app and re-install it.
I assume that any notes he makes will be attached to books on the old users account, so I recommended he leave passive-aggressive notes in obscure books.0 -

Several thoughts:
- Deleting the app and redownloading isn't really a big deal. Whenever the app gets updated, you are downloading the app all over again anyway.*
- The seller was very foolish not to wipe his device!
- Logos is intended for "one user." Your colleague shouldn't be using the seller's resources.
* When a user deletes the app, all the user data will be deleted. When you sign back in again, all the user data & downloaded resources will need to be redownloaded. Since this is a new user, that would need to be done anyway. In addition, sometimes the installation can become corrupt, so deleting the app becomes necessary. There isn't really a good reason to add "log out."

I have two accounts with Logos (happened somewhere along the upgrade or crossover process way back I think). Anyway, I switched accounts by deleting the app completely and reinstalling it (took all of 3 minutes).

If you call customer service they can merge your accounts together.

Uninstall the app, then reinstall and login with the credentials you want to use.

This Log was very useful to me. But I want to answer the Question...
why would you want/need to log off the app?
For me, somehow, I have two sign-in credentials. One has no resources available, while my other has all my resources. I have tried many times to have Logos delete one, but to no avail. So now, If I login under the wrong credentials, which happens to be the correct credentials with other non-logos accounts, I am stuck. (Which I have been for a few weeks.)
However, now I know I just need to delete and reload the app. As you can see this has not been a priority for me, as I don't usually use my phone for study, but now, I will fix it today. Thanks.

Hi JT,
I take care of the IT for our family. It would be ideal to have a "sign out" area for this app in case:
1. The user mistakenly signs up again using a different email address than that with which they purchased their software, therefore not being able to utilize items that have already been purchased, but then later remember it/find the correct email address.
2. This should not be a one and done sign in.
3. We are human and make mistakes and need to correct those mistakes ;-)
Thanks!
