A favorite layout
Back in 2009 and 2010 there was some discussion on favorite layouts.
Here is the one I use about 80% of the time. My approach is normally the exposition of a passage. If I have a topical issue, I normally isolate several key passages and then do expository work on each of them.I work hard to avoid just giving folks a few proof texts. I prefer expound extended "proof passages."
Here is the content of each of the three guides.
I also have the following passage analysis in a floating window. Note that it is in the same link set as the guides and is set to compare pericopes. Yes, when you save a layout it saves any floating windows you have at the time.
Maybe this can be of help to someone. Suggestions for improvement are also welcome.

Hi Frank,
My layout is similar to yours. I was wondering why you use a PG with lots of collections rather than the cited by tool? The cited by tool can be tweaked to include the collections or mytags that you want to show. Is it how the results are presented or something else?
I think it is several things:
1. I do not see a way have the cited by tool work directly with mytags as the commentary and collections sections of the passage guide do.It looks like I would have to make a collection for every tag in my controlled vocabulary. That would be redundant and require extra processing to up the collections.
2. I can control the order of sections.
3. I can mix in items unique to the passage guide or exegetical guide such as Biblical People, Places and Things, cross references, etc.along with Bible index or cited by searches.
4. I can put both a commentary and collection section next to each other, both of which point to the same collection or tag. This way I go into the resources either by the Bible index (commentary section) or by simple presence of a reference in the resource (collection section).
There are probably others but that is all I can think of just before midnight. [|-)]

Thanks for the reply. Not to change your mind, but for information only you can change the setting in the cited by tool for items 1 and 2. See screenshot below where you can select mytags and change the order of the selected items. For collections with a larger amount of hits the cited by tool just opens a search so you do not need to continually hit the more button. Lastly, you can select if you want the hits ranked or sorted by book. There are benefits to both. Thanks for posting.
Some how I never found that feature [:O] and I have been using this product since day one. Guess betimes I am not very observant. Hmm will have to take a look at it now. Thanks for pointing it out. [:)]
An issue I notice right off is that I cannot make the tool become a tab in another column. I have to take screen space away from the resource display. This is a major problem when when using a projector to teach.
I will try running it for a while as a fourth column for a while and see how it goes. Thanks again.
