Does anyone have a definitive list of what words are changed when a bible is anglicized?
I know "Baptism" stays the same

That wiki was a great help. There was more difference than I first thought. Now I know why anglicized bibles exist. For those who are not American, is it distracting to read an Americanized version of the bible?
As a Londoner to be hones I don't really have that great a problem with the bible, it never seems too American. I honestly am distracted more by books and software programs! All other languages seem to be translated but we just have to take the American spellings.
What really ,really annoys me us the New Jerusalem Bible not available to the English in Logos. It is my first choice bible.
I saw another thread about changing words in Logos. I might try experimenting if I can correct the spelling to centre, colour, axe etc [:P]

Not really, we tend to read a lot of books that use the American variants. From a Bible perspective I cannot think of any real issues in the majority of translations where the issue has an effect on meaning. The only exceptions are the Living Bible and the Message where use of idioms specific to the US culture are used. I remember one preacher reading from the Message and then having to explain how the American cultural reference related to the original context, very confusing.
We do of course have the Anglicised NIV plus some of the original KJVs are in proper English. Most of the time the NIV only varies on spelling although occasionally there are some other differences. This can be quite entertaining in Bible studies as people follow along and assume that someone has misread the passage.
Other issue that I have is that I have to remember to use the NIVa if I generate word searches from Logos.

For me it is. I find the spelling differences intrude on my reading flow and break my concentration. That is why I am hoping for an Anglicised NIV 2011 as there is for NIV 84. (There are also syntactical differences and idioms which I puzzle me from time to time.)
Anglicised NIV is still my default Bible. In fact it is the first Logos resource I ever owned (1993) together with NA26 and BHS. They were all driven by Logos 1.6. I remember being blown away by the search facility then. My massive and expensive concordances for my three bibles were redundant overnight!

This could be controversial, but it seems to me even Anglicized or is it Anglicised words have alternative spellings!

According to some sources it should be Anglicized as that is supposedly more traditional others argue that it should be Anglicised as Anglicized has largely been preserved in English(US). Sadly I have tried a few times to determine which is actually correct but have failed to find a truly satisfactory answer. Personally I use Anglicised because it was how I was taught at school, I think!
Well, Hodder & Stoughton, who published the print version spelled it Anglicised and so do Logos! (See screenshot.)
I have this too and like Alan I'm looking for a updated Anglicised NIV 2011! But even the edition I have doesn't seem to appear on the Logos Website so where would one get a copy now?
My son is shortly going to buy a Logos Base Package and I'd like to get a copy of the Anglicised NIV for him.
Anglicised is correct for British speakers. The NRSV has decide to use Anglicized, proudly saying on the back: "Anglicized edition uses British spelling"!
In the preface, they say that they used -ize rather than -ise where it is "etymologically permissible". I'm none the wiser!

AFAIK the Anglicised NIV for Logos is discontinued. It was sold under the Hodder and Stoughton brand as a physical CD.
I managed to get one this Spring by searhing the internet for UK Christian retailers that had a copy left. There was at least one more supplier claiming to have one in stock then, so you may still be lucky.

I don't think that it is available now. In fact, I don't think that it has been available for some considerable time. Not sure but it might be possible to buy a Libronix or even Logos 2 CD copy from a Christian bookshop and synchronise your licences, and then download it in L4.

So would I, but I haven't seen any sign that there will even be an Anglicised print version, let alone a Logos version.
There is a print version of Anglicised 2011. I saw them at a conference earlier in the year and they are available on the usual web retailers. I'm not planning on buying a copy because I'm holding out for the Logos editiion ....
